Great Day Trip
, Aug 2019
Great day trip. You can do it at your own pace. We took our time exploring couple of places on the way to top. The journey from Zurich to Weggis by coach was comfortable and the guide was informative. From Weggis we were on our own. The boat trip back from Vitznau to Lucern was beautiful as well. Overall we enjoyed our day. Thanks

Not sure how it is well scored, the only service provided by the tour operator is the transport to the place, and pickup after youmanage by your own the full day. They mixed tours and ask you to wait for the bus in certain pick up location, they ask you to be on time (earlier than the scheduled time and don't move) l, but the bus gets delayed from the other tour and you need to wait there doing nothing... In our case a delay of approx 45 min, while other group got the news that their bus was not coming and they needed to be for in our bus.... Really bad organization from the tour operator. Additionally when we were leaving the bus was hot by another bus in the parking lot and the departure was delayed a while...
Bus was 45 minutes late

The tour company seemed very unorganized from the beginning, everyone running around confused. When the tour started the info the guide was giving us was mostly just pointing out sights, i.e. "there's the Zurich river, there's the train station," not super interesting stuff...stuff you could know by looking around yourself as you drive. I felt like the tour was a glorified taxi service. They drop you off at the lift to go up to mt. Rigi with a ticket, voucher, and schedule to follow for the day. You are completely on your own, which wasn't a problem, but not what I expected and I was hoping to learn some interesting information about these places. Then, everyone on the tour gathered at the bus stop at the arranged time and the bus was 45 minutes late! They did not even apologize, they just said that it wasn't their fault and that they ran into traffic. They said weekends usually have traffic but if they know this then they should leave earlier to make sure they get to the location to pick us up by the time they tell us to be there by. The sights we saw, the lift and the boat ride, were amazing, but the tour organization sucked.
Great for on-your-own exploring

This was perfect for us. We wanted to adventure on our own but have the ability to not worry about transportation from one place to the next. This trip provided us with the perfect combination of hiking and touring the city!

Worthwhile trip

We were very lucky as we had a warm, sunny day. There were 2 tours combined on our bus so after a lovely drive through the countryside, ten of us were dropped off at the cable car where our guide explained that the next part of the trip we would do on our own. So we took the cable car part way up Mt Rigi then we caught a cogwheel train to take us up to the top. Our guide said we would have over 2-hours up on the mountain and then we needed to catch the train that would take us down to the river where a boat took us on a cruise around Lake Lucerne. We then had about an hour to wander around Lucerne before we met the bus. Now I agree with earlier reviews saying you don’t need as much time at Riga but more time in Lucerne. So we left Riga after about a good hour and were able to spend more time in Lucerne. Our guide Rosemary was very good but she did confuse us a little about the part we needed to go on our own. It was a magical day with superb weather. It certainly met our expectations and I would certainly recommend this excursion. Hopefully the weather will be good.
Nice Experience

In the view of pricing of transportation in Zurich this trip is a true-value package. The guidance is good. The views of mountains are awesome. Though it was snowing at Rigi on the day of our trip, but we still enjoyed the views and snow. Taking own food is good idea. I was expecting at least some snacks or cake and/or juice on board. I recommend this trip for couples or family.
Great day out of Zurich

Train ride up Mt Rigi and walking at top excellent. Did not need as much time as provided so we came down hour early. Boat to Lucerne and walking in city was enjoyable.
