4x4 Jeep Tour with Laura
Scott_G
, Aug 2022
My husband, 17 year son and I enjoyed the tour. Yosemite is amazing! Our guide was Laura B. She was knowledgeable of the areas of the park we visited. We found her pleasant but chatty. Laura would be well matched for seniors.
We went to all the highlighted areas mentioned in the tour except Glacier Point-which is closed due to construction. The tour is designed to take you to these locations for a quick stop/photo opportunity and move on to the next location. This is a private tour so if you want to stay longer at a location or if you want to hike an area, you need to let your guide know. We also had snacks and non-alcoholic beverages offered to us a couple of times during the tour. The lunches we ordered were the Veggie and Beef sandwiches-both were good. We had the 4x4 Jeep tour. It rained most of the tour so we were not able to have the top down but it was still a nice ride. We would recommend this trip to gain a better understanding of the areas of the park or if you don’t want to drive through the twist and turns on the park roads.
Amazing day at Yosemite with Laura U.😊

We only had one day at Yosemite & this tour was worth the money! We were picked up at our hotel in the morning by Laura U. who was wonderful! She was a fountain of information, took us to all the best spots, and made our day at Yosemite amazing! Laura shared so many fun facts & history about the park throughout the day and answered all of our questions. Highly recommend!
An unforgettable day for the whole family, thanks to Mike.

Where to start….We booked a Jeep day trip into Yosemite Valley. The pickup was completely effortless on our part. Our driver/guide Laura was a real gem from start to finish. I’m not sure we can say enough great things about her. She had so much information that can’t be found on a map or brochure. We feel as if we could not have seen or done as much in the two days we had to spend that we did in less than half a day on this tour. We are truly thankful we booked. As an added bonus, the included lunch was good too. We highly recommend this tour of Yosemite Valley.
Great trip. Worth the price.

Absolutely brilliant tour of Yosemite. David our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us plenty of time at each stop to explore and take photos. If we are lucky enough to go back we will request that David be our guide again.

Beautiful park, Guide was awful

The guide can make or break the tour, our guide was awful. We asked to see the giant sequoia trees in Mariposa Grove. We were told there aren't any large sequoias remaining. We asked to stop at the gift shop, he drove right past it. Instead of doing what we wanted, we saw the same climbing rock three times, from three different angles. We heard tons of stories about Alex the climber, all stories from the movie Free Solo. Half hour into the tour, we were sick of listening to the monologue and BS stories about conversations the indian tribes had in the 1800s. It is obvious that our guide was giving us a book report rather than a tour. We also learned where our guide got married, how fun his reception was (37 years ago), his in-laws quirks, his dogs haircut schedule (and photos of his dog), his sons little league career, his current height & weight, his rock climbing adventures, his political views, his dislike for the Sierra Club, his dislike for San Francisco, his retirement plans, the day his foundation will be poured for his new house and of course his burial wishes. I have never in my life had a stranger share their burial wishes with me, this man is odd. Eight hours of listening to him talk about himself and his indian pals from the 1800s. He never once even asked us our names or anything about us. The photo with this review is the 3rd time we saw the same rock, fifteen minutes of staring at it, he found another family that would listen to his stories. We politely let him know we were ready to move on but he continued to chat with the family who WASNT on the tour. I had two teenagers with me and they were bored out of their minds, they missed the beauty of Yosemite because they spent the entire time on their phones complaining about the tour guide & asking when it was over.
The tour could have been amazing, Yosemite is a beautiful park. The guide made it miserable and incredibly irritating. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend this tour unless the company does a better job of matching families with guides or at least hires guides who know how to do a tour. Richard the tour guide needs to check his ego before punching the time clock. Sad that we missed out on what should have been a fun day of seeing natures beauty. We feel ripped off and I guarantee we aren't the only ones, Richard complained about a family he took on tour, that family questioned his BS stories and alternative facts. I say alternative facts because the informational signs posted by the parks service, we were told they are not true. We were given alternative facts and told that Richards facts were true.
I don't advise booking this tour without first calling the company and asking about the guides. Do not ask for Richard unless you want an 8 hour monologue of bull.
Response from Host , Jun 2022
Sorry to hear about your experience. Richard is one of the very popular guides over the years. From the city of Mariposa it is a long distance to drive to Mariposa Grove. And at that time of the year the shuttle buses do not run so it is a 5 mile walk round trip to see the trees.
Thank you for your input.

Our guide Laura was fun, knowledgeable and helped create a fantastic day around Yosemite valley. Her stories of the history of Yosemite along with knowing the best places for views and walks made it easy if you only have one day to spend in the park.
Thanks for a great time!
