This Mt Rainier day trip begins with a convenient hotel pickup in Seattle or near the SeaTac Airport. Then prepare for a narrated, scenic drive featuring Alder Lake Park and the town of Eatonville at the foothills of Mt Rainier.

Stop at Longmire, the visitor center at the southwest corner of the park, to explore their museum and National Park Inn. Visit Christine Falls, with one of the signature views in Mt Rainier National Park (look for the bridge). Then walk along the Nisqually River up to Narada Falls, considered the most popular waterfall in Mt Rainier State Park. It’s taller than Niagara Falls at 188 feet.

Then it’s off to the pinnacle event of the day: the view at Paradise, which is 5,400 feet above sea level. Purchase lunch here and take in the incredible view of Mt Rainier and the valley below. Be on the lookout for wildlife wandering around the mountain at any time.

During the wintertime, choose from an optional snowshoe or sled adventure, if conditions allow. During the summertime, simply enjoy the scene at Reflection Lake, which provides one of the most iconic views of Mt Rainier. It’s absolutely stunning. Be sure to bring a camera.

Finally, visit the Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center at Paradise to learn more about the history of Mt Rainier, including a brief film about it.

Then it’s back down the mountain to hit the road back to Seattle.

Good value day tour for all traveler types!

Loved everything about this tour. I have always wanted to go to Paradise and this tour delivered. I’m a local and a pretty savvy hiker and I still learned a lot about the mountains, the area and the natural world here. Guide Lucas promptly picked up at hotel location and was a wealth of knowledge and stories on the journey to Rainier. I appreciated his preparedness with bringing extra bottles of water for everyone, stopping at grocery store for food and providing bathroom and snack stops on the way to and from Paradise. He is a good driver and felt totally safe through the windy mountain roads. We had 3 hours at Paradise which for hikers is ample time to explore 4-8 miles of trails. Loved the stop at Narada Falls and the Ukrainian bakery! Tahoma (Rainier) had her normal cloak of clouds so we did not get to see the peak clearly. However, that’s totally out of the control of the tour operator because the mountain makes whatever weather she wants on any given day :). Paradise is…paradise. The professionalism on this tour and from the operator is 5/5 stars. Kid friendly. Group friendly and solo traveler friendly. As a note for the 12 hour day, recommend bringing a battery backup or charger for phones / cameras because the bus seats do not have in seat power. Also bring a jacket bc the peak is always colder than cities. I had this on my list for a few months now and am so glad I went for it!

The tour was great! Our guide Joe was very helpful and knowledgeable about the places we saw on our way to Mt. Rainier. The views were spectacular with blue skies and comfortable temperature. Joe made the effort to stop to let us see and photograph wild life, turning the bus around sometimes so we could enjoy the animals and flowers. Thank you Joe!

Oh boy. Mt. Rainier trip...

Oh boy. Mt. Rainier trip 7/24/22...I will never forget this day. Chaotic, yet memorable. Okay, first thing first. Lucas was an outstanding tour guide. Knowledgeable, friendly, and very professional. He had a family emergency happened mid-tour to attend to, but he still managed to keep us on schedule and feeding us information about the guide as if nothing more important is happening. That is very commendable. He did eventually had to depart the tour towards the end, but he pretty much covered everything by that point. Now onto the tour itself, there's a lot of walking/hiking involved. Please bring appropriate clothing and shoes. Please know you are going to walk miles, some downhill and some uphill routes. Also, please pay attention or make sure you have the guide/people to follow. I sadly did get lost because I was the last person to use the bathroom at one of the stops, so by that point, nobody was there that I could follow. Needless to say, I went the wrong route so I ended up walking over 2 miles in the wrong direction. After a while and not seeing anybody else in my group, I then had to backtrack and do the correct mile-long route until I finally saw the tour guide. Not going to share more details, but yes, it was a bit intense. Embarrassing mistake, but again, Lucas was professional about it and knew how to handle the situation. It sure gave me a story to share for years to come. Anyways, as for the rest of the tour, we get plenty of good photo-ops, views, and just overall a good time. I would recommend this tour.

WOW what a great trip. Lucas our driver/guide for the day was excellent. Very knowledgeable and funny. We were very lucky with the weather hardly a cloud in the sky. It is a long day but so worth it. The scenery is unbelievable. We were not rushed at any point. Breaks were taken when peopled required it. There are various hikes if you want to take them with varying difficulties. All explained in detail by Lucas. If you you were only going to do one trip whilst in seattle this is the one to do.

We had a wonderful day! Our trip started out rainy and overcast and shaped up beautifully! When we made it to the top, we were rewarded with a clear view of the top of Mt Rainier! Saw gorgeous scenery, waterfalls, deer, elk, and marmots. Joe found us some large glacier ice boulders that delighted all those that have come from more tropical climates. We made plenty of bathroom stops along the way. Joe was very personable, informative, and accommodating. He also treated us to delectable cupcakes at the last stop before returning. Yum! Overall, loved the tour and would recommend it to all who ask. Highlight of our Seattle stay!

Had a fantastic day in mt. Rainer National Park. Our guide, Lucas, was fantastic. From the time we were picked up at the hotel, to the various stops along the tour, Lucas helped make it fun and easy. On vacation, who wants to think about all of the aspects of the tour? Lucas explained our options at each stop, distance of the hikes, places to buy snacks, bathroom stops, what to look for....planning and organizing done for you. We had the best day!

Chaotic as first but rescued in the end!

Trip was frought with issues - road closures, inexperienced guide etc - but Lucas (new guide) jumped in and saved the day. However a lot of the issues in the first part of the day were completely avoidable! So hopefully others will have a better experience. Also Mount Rainier is the real star of this trip! So it all worked out in the end.

This trip was amazing from start to finish! Joe our guide was an expert & made sure we saw it all! Waterfalls, wildlife ( I saw a marmot which I’ve never seen before) & last but not least gorgeous Mount Rainier in all her glory! Joe kept checking his mirrors so that all of us would get to see her. It was at end of tour & he pulled over & there she was peaking through the mist & clouds. Magnificent & my husband & I will cherish this adventure the rest of our lives!

beautiful park and you get to see a decent amount of it for the price/time spent in park. There are some stops that have trails you need to hike down, but if you aren’t able to hike to views are just as beautiful at trailheads. At some stops, we weren’t told exactly what time to be back by our guide which resulted in confusion but that’s on us too! Overall a great experience, and great introduction to the park. Highly recommend, especially if you have limited time and just want a quick overview.

We are glad you enjoyed your time in the Park and were able to meet back up with the group after the time away. We appreciate you recommending our tour and giving a review.

Mark is great & funny! He’s got great knowledge, make use of it! The only thing that’s a little unfortunate is that at Paradise we didn’t have that much time due to exploring with a group.
icon Response from Host , Aug 2022
We are glad you enjoyed your tour with Mark. Yes when traveling in a group setting we do have to keep on schedule. We always suggest when looking to have a more customized itinerary to reserve with us on a private tour. Then you are able to customize to your groups interests. Thank you for touring with us!
