8:00 AM
Complimentary pick up in selected areas of San Juan: Old San Juan, Condado, Isla Verde, Miramar and Ocean Park and Calle Loiza. Meeting point available by PR-3 in Rio Grande. Exact pick up time will be provided the day prior to the tour.
Receive an included pickup in the morning from your San Juan hotel, after which you’ll transfer by air-conditioned bus or van through a number of local Puerto Rican towns heading to El Yunque, one of the oldest forest reserves in the Western Hemisphere.

You’ll continue into the rainforest, heading to the first trailhead to take your first guided nature walk. As you wander along the trail, your guide will introduce you to the exotic varieties of flowers and the fresh ginger that grow alongside your route. You’ll also learn about the reserve’s significance to the local Taino Indians, who have long considered the area as sacred.

Continue to the reserve’s El Portal Visitor Center, where you’ll have time to explore the exhibits including an elevated forest walkway, walking trails, and educational displays as you learn more about this unique ecosystem. Leave the visitor center behind and head to La Coca Falls, an 85-foot (26-meter) cascade that plunges down a series of rock formations into a shallow pool.

Then head to Yokahú Tower, a 69-foot (21-meter) tall tower offering unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside, plus a range of lush plant life like wild flowers, giant ferns, tropical hardwoods, and tree orchids growing nearby. After your stop at the tower, you’ll receive a transfer back to your San Juan hotel.

This tour is the perfect way to experience El Yunque. You get to see and learn a lot about the rainforest without having to tackle the overwhelmingness of it on your own. Francisco was a fantastic tour guide, one of the best I’ve ever had as a frequent tour taker - funny, knowledgeable, and extremely kind. The whole day was such a pleasure. Definitely wear your bathing suit for the swim in the river/waterfalls at the end—amazing experience!!

Excellent Guide-Franky

Franky was wonderful, so knowledgeable and made our experience rich with his personality and intelligence sharing key aspects of plants, animals, how resources connect and are essential. I was hoping to do more hiking but my teenage son preferred the mix of the drive, sites, short hike and dip in the water.

Our tour guide was excellent and provided interesting information on the history of the rainforest and its flora and wildlife, and Puerto Rico and it’s history. This is the 2nd protected national park in the US after Yellowstone. One highlight was being able to swim in one of the rivers with rapids after a trail hike.

Frankie was amazing. Really informative and really well educated on the surrounding area. Also funny and really nice. This tour is really good for people who are not that into hiking but wanted to see the rainforest. You're in a air conditioned van and you go to a few stops to look and take pictures. Only thing is I wish we spent less time at the tower, visitors center and more time at the last stop which was the stream. For the 10-15 min trail to the stream we pretty much only had 15 mins before we had to start walking back. Watershoes or water sandals recommended cause flip flops would fly away and no shoes would hurt since the stream is fulllllll of rocks. We started at 8am and ended about 12:30 and then headed back.

Our guide, Frankie, was so knowledgeable and so passionate about the culture, history, and ecology of the island. Could not recommend more highly! Hike is not at all strenuous (uphill coming back, but not far) and we could have spent all day in the river.

From pickup to drop off and at all points in between, our guide was personable, accommodating, and very informative. His depth of knowledge on all topics Puerto Rico, particularly flora, fauna and history was spectacular and delivered with ease and in a light, conversational manner. I could not recommend this trip or our guide Frankie more highly. Very grateful for the experience.

Great guide. Very knowledgeable and approachable. The excursion, however, is not for those seeking a true “hiking” adventure. There is a mix of minivan touring, stops at scenic locations, and a final hike to the river for a swim. Ok for those is “average” shape.

Frankie was our tour guide and a fantastic one at that! His knowledge of the local plant life makes him one of the best botanists I have ever come across. He is also funny and interactuve with the group; he kept us engaged the entire tiime. A true gem of a person that Bespoke is lucky to have as an employee.

Frankie the tour guide was great and obviously loves his home. We learned so much about the biodiversity of the entire island. The tower climb view was beautiful, the waterfall climb was challenging but fun, and the river stop was something we wish we would have had more time for, but still a great experience.
