2-hour Private Guided Tour of Pompeii

Registration was very easy. We shared the tour with another couple and had Emmanuela as our guide. FANTASTIC experience. Not only was Pompei far larger and fascinating than we'd known but Emmanuela was perfect. She shared her information clearly with many details and a bit of humor. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Because of her information we were able to really appreciate what we saw in the 4 hours after the tour ended and we continued to explore. We would all highly recommend this tour!!!

We had a totally private tour with just my wife and 15-year-old son and I. It was an incredibly privileged time to visit because of Covid, if you are reading this in September or October 2021 and are considering it I suggest you do it immediately. The guide was incredibly knowledgeable and intuitive and tailored the tour to our interests. We spent more time in places that we showed more interest in and less time in places that we had less interest in. We did 2 hours but sky is the limit. You could easily do a couple full days. Total recommend.

Excellent visit, DAlfonso our guide, show us Pompeya with enthusiasm, and knowloge of the history of the city and how the people live in that time.

Some places you visit and it doesn’t really matter if you just walk around, take the audio tour, get a group tour, or get a private guide. Pompeii is absolutely one where you MUST get a private guide! Our guide Alessandra was absolutely fantastic and her stories and fine details transported us back in time. Sure other people “visited” Pompeii that day, but we EXPERIENCED it as if we were citizens of the grand city leading up to that fateful day in 79 AD. This tour made the entire trip worthwhile! Btw - the big umbrella and water bottles we brought from town were essential too (it was very hot), just a tip!

Although this tour was good for an overview of the site, I think you may be able to get as much or possibly more information from doing the audio guides instead. Unfortunately our guide had a very strong accent making her quite hard to understand and she went into too much detail on some things. All of us would've liked to have seen more of the site than we did - I'm not sure if the audio tour would've been better but in hindsight we would do this instead - at a minimum I'm sure the english on the audio tapes would be better and there would be no risk of getting a guide that you struggle to understand, and you can always fast forward on the tape if it's something you're not interested in hearing.

Our tour guide was amazing! she was tremendously positive, knowledgeable and she valued our time tremendously. she connected with my 16 and 13 year old so they could engage with Pompeii. Although it was a little pricey for four people, she was what made Pompeii come alive for us! She was so engaging we had people ask if they could join our tour :

We loved our tour in Pompeii, led by Lena. She was energetic, funny, and insightful. Lena was excellent at guiding us through the throngs of other tourists, but patient with us as we asked questions and snapped photos. We only had a couple of hours at the site, but our family got an in depth experience. Would definitely recommend this tour with Lena!
