Duration: 12 hours

Stop At:
Chateau de Chambord
From Paris, you’ll head first to Château de Chambord. Disney fans will find this castle’s turrets familiar; it was the inspiration for the castle in ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Though originally conceived as a royal hunting lodge, it was built to a scale that must be seen to be believed. You’ll learn all about the castle’s captivating history from your guide, before getting your own chance to explore. Climb a staircase supposedly designed by Da Vinci; enjoy spectacular turret-framed rooftop views; glimpse wild deer around the grounds; and work up an appetite for the next stop.
Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes
Admission Ticket Included
Stop At:
Blois
Having worked up an appetite, we'll get back on the bus and on to our next stop - the quaint town of Blois, where you’ll get some free time to enjoy lunch in one of the restaurants located around the beautiful and vibrant Square Louis XII or grab a bite and visit the Royal castle of Blois on your own, notable for its unique mix of Medieval, Gothic, Renaissance and Classical architecture. This Royal castle once was the home of kings Louis XII and François I and presents a tragic history, as the place where Joan of Arc went to be blessed by the Archbishop of Reims before departing with her army to drive the English from Orléans.
Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes
Admission Ticket Free
Stop At:
Chateau de Chenonceau
Last but not least is a visit to the elegant Château de Chenonceau for wine tasting. The chapel, bedrooms and magnificent vaulted kitchens are still furnished and decorated from times gone by, showing off the castle’s many sweeping stone carvings. Don’t miss the impressive main hall, which spans the river Cher, or the gardens cultivated by Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medici – two of the famous owners that earned Chenonceau the nickname ‘the Ladies’ Château’. After a guided tour, you’ll have a choice: continue exploring, or indulge in a second wine tasting in the castle’s vaulted wine cellar. Three uniquely beautiful castles, good food and wine, all amid the scenery of the Loire Valley: this tour is a feast for the senses.

Very good trip but long day!

The trip was generally excellent but this was a very very long day with a lot of bus time and there was really no time to enjoy Blois. Thr guide was very good and the castles lovely.

Gabrielle gave a wonderful presentation and guided the group on tasting process. It was a memorable experience!

Great tour

The tour was fun, our guide Sinse provided a great deal of historical background to all the places we visited. He was very entertaining. The visits to the Chateaus were self guided, only the ticket for entry is included.

Great sights, too rushed
Nicole_M
, Aug 2022
The bus has very tight seating. Do not go on this tour if you are taller than 5'8- you will be cramped and miserable for the more than 7 hours you are on the bus. Very little time is spent actually seeing the sights since they are so far away, but the sights and the guide were wonderful.

Underdelivered

This wasn’t Guided! We were driven to each castle, given a ticket and a time to return to the bus. A rip-off! Group sized promised to be 25 and under but it ended up at 50 with an assistant guide that did nothing.

Another Great Tour from Viator
Kathryn_M
, Aug 2022
So often when people go to France they rarely get out of Paris, so this year we vowed to get of Paris (wonderful as it is!) and see more of France. This trip to the Loire Valley was the start. The seeing the two chateaux was a wonderful experience, and both were very different. The wine tasting was a nice extra and the two guides were great (one had a degree in architecture and the other had a degree in history). Victory really know how to pick these tour companies and you can feel confident that you are getting the best companies if Viator picks them. We have done 7 or 8 of these tours from Viator and have NEVER been disappointed!

Worth the time and money!

Great guide! History lesson along the way (after time to ourselves - read sleep - on our way there and back). LOVED these castles and so beautiful! Wine tasting very fun and informative. Due to location and travel time from Paris, please expect that your time at the two castles will NOT be extensive. We had time to plan what we wanted to see there with the time we had based on our guides information (which was helpful and accurate). Got to see the outside of a third castle (could buy a ticket to tour inside if you wanted to grab a lunch “on the go”). Most chose to eat a sit down lunch at this location instead. Many restaurants to choose from. We had plenty of time (not to much or too little) before we were on our way to next destination.

Loved the Chateux; Not Enough Time due to Bus Flat Tire
Beth_G
, Jul 2022
Our full bus experienced a flat tire about an hour outside of Paris. It took almost 2 hours to get back on the road. We skipped a sit down lunch or visit to Blois but still were quite rushed in each Chateau: Chambord and Chenonceau. It was not the Tour Guides fault - they were trying to do their best and they were very knowledgeable but we all felt like it was not enough time at either Chateau.

Lots of driving, but worth it!
Lindsay_C
, Jul 2022
Overall, we enjoyed our day. We had read previous reviews that said it was a lot of driving time and that we'd feel rushed at each place, so we went in being prepared for this. I personally didn't feel rushed. We had just over an hour at each chateau. We were able to walk through the chateau as well as explore a bit of the grounds in this time. In Blois we chose to go in the chateau and grab a grocery store lunch, and this was the best choice. Blois was nearly empty and was my personal favourite chateau because of this. Overall, if you're really interested in seeing the chateaus quickly (without really looking inside all the rooms carefully) and are willing to spend about 7 hours total on the coach bus, I'd recommend this experience!

I was the only solo...
Geoff_P
, Jul 2022
I was the only solo traveller on the tour and the young lady at the wine tasting clearly thought I didn't belong on the tour because I got a tiny droplets of two glasses and NOTHING of the third glass....while my co travellers got their glasses filled a third of the way up with a smile....I shouldn't have to BEG FOR SOMETHING I PAID FOR.!!

Time to give condescension a rest
Martha_B

Beautiful chateaux, interesting history. But I could have done without the snide, condescending delivery of quips about the “ladies’ castle.” Thise ladies were strong and powerful women and deserve verbal and attitudinal respect

Stood up in Paris by tour

Very difficult to rate this tour as we were arguably 2 minutes late due to traffic and they left without us. I have never been on a tour where the tour guide was unable to be reached( they say contact tour operator on booking but it goes to an email and on searching the messenger is not live). I have booked other tours where you can text in real time if you can’t find the guide. We arrived at the location ( as I said at 7:32 for a 7:30 time due to traffic) to join the tour and no one was there. They had to have left prior to 7:30 for us not to see hide nor hair of them and the guide obviously hadn’t looked for us. I am always early for tours but never thought that we would be left behind. There is nothing in the booking that said 7:30 was a drop dead time and I repeat we were there at 7:42 at the latest. Poor customer service, poor contact info, poor follow up!!

Day trip to Loire Valley
Robert_W
, Jul 2022
The wine taste at the Château was beautiful and best part of trip. Village of Blos and Chambord were nice. Just spent too much time on bus and little time to explore. It was an “ok” trip, not bad not good.

Good trip shame about the delay

The coach was one hour late arriving at the pick up so we were rushed with no time for lunch. It was a good tour of the castles.

Bus was over an hour late. Messed up the timeline of the whole day. Very disappointing for the amount of money spent.

Our guides were wonderful what we visited were great choices it’s a pretty tight schedule though so you don’t spend as much time as you might like but you do have enough time to get the flavor of what you’ve seen in the history behind it

I enjoyed the experience and the tour guides were knowledgeable. However one could have had better hygiene and presentation of self. I should not have to smell my tour guide.

Beautiful chateaus and a good tour guide. Weather extremely warm which made the long bus ride uncomfortable - many requests from passengers to turn on the air conditioning. Otherwise, a good day.
