Stop At:
Chateau de Chambord
From Paris, you’ll head first to Château de Chambord. Disney fans will find this castle’s turrets familiar; it was the inspiration for the castle in ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Though originally conceived as a royal hunting lodge, it was built to a scale that must be seen to be believed. You’ll learn all about the castle’s captivating history from your guide, before getting your own chance to explore. Climb a staircase supposedly designed by Da Vinci; enjoy spectacular turret-framed rooftop views; glimpse wild deer around the grounds; and work up an appetite for the next stop.
Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes

Stop At:
Blois
Having worked up an appetite, we'll get back on the bus and on to our next stop - the quaint town of Blois, where you’ll get some free time to enjoy lunch in one of the restaurants located around the beautiful and vibrant Square Louis XII or grab a bite and visit the Royal castle of Blois on your own, notable for its unique mix of Medieval, Gothic, Renaissance and Classical architecture. This Royal castle once was the home of kings Louis XII and François I and presents a tragic history, as the place where Joan of Arc went to be blessed by the Archbishop of Reims before departing with her army to drive the English from Orléans.
Duration: 1 hour 45 minutes

Stop At:
Chateau de Chenonceau
Last but not least is a visit to the elegant Château de Chenonceau for wine tasting. The chapel, bedrooms and magnificent vaulted kitchens are still furnished and decorated from times gone by, showing off the castle’s many sweeping stone carvings. Don’t miss the impressive main hall, which spans the river Cher, or the gardens cultivated by Diane de Poitiers and Catherine de Medici – two of the famous owners that earned Chenonceau the nickname ‘the Ladies’ Château’. After a guided tour, you’ll have a choice: continue exploring, or indulge in a second wine tasting in the castle’s vaulted wine cellar. Three uniquely beautiful castles, good food and wine, all amid the scenery of the Loire Valley: this tour is a feast for the senses.

Large group, a little rushed, disappointing wine tasting
Lilian_S
, Oct 2021
This was one of two day trips I did during a trip to France, and I think I could have skipped it. The tour guides were great, but was a larger group (think tour bus) with a lot on the schedule. The castles were pretty, but I felt very rushed through all of the sights. My group also made the mistake of sitting down at a proper restaurant during the lunch stop, which prevented us from seeing anything at that stop. The wine tasting was just three wines (a rose, a white, and a red), none of which were particularly good in my opinion. I would recommend the Giverny/Versailles day trip instead (smaller group, better pace, wonderful French lunch included). If you do want to do this day trip, I would recommend systematically hitting only the highlights of each stop, and definitely opt for a quick grab-and-go sandwich for lunch rather than a sit-down meal. Also, don't expect much from the wine tasting.

Hurry up and wait. Hope you like long long bus rides

Bad decision to travel with so many people (bus was full and excess in van). We were told when to be at bus or meeting place and people just took their merry time. The first stop we were 20 minutes late, the second we were 40 minutes late. An older woman traveling with a family of 12 did not get on a bus at the second chateau. The staff and family looked for her as the bus drove around the town looking for her. They finally found her and made her take a taxi to next castle. The parents of a small child were in the taxi leaving the child screaming for their parents. Ludicrous. Who allows their child to be left on the bus to the next stop?!!! That said child was also sick, coughing and sneezing on everyone. I don’t think she was required to have a covid pass. Other family members were coughing and sneezing as well. The bus ride was over 7 hours. Not a good idea to be in small indoor area for that long with sick people regardless of whether you wear a mask or not. Since we were so late, we only had 8 minutes for our wine tasting before they rudely whisked us out of the cave and even said no time to purchase. We were suppose to be back to Paris by 7:30pm and arrived 8:15pm ruining dinner plans. Not worth the time and money at all.

The tour was supposed to...

The tour was supposed to include lunch, and that is one of reasons I chose it. I wrote an email and I hope to get the corresponding refund

Title of tour is false and misleading
Hilary_T
, Oct 2021
Unfortunately, this title is false advertising…. Only when you get the email from the different company not Viator (city of wonders tour group) is when you find out that wine is not included everyday! Ummm your title says with wine in bold. We tried to cancel this booking and now have been unsuccessfully to do so, once we found out that the tour is not what it states. Bad customer service.

Stunning Day but Felt Rushed
Allison_C
, Oct 2021
Our guide was absolutely amazing. She knew so much about French history and made it interesting to listen to. During the trip you go to 3 castles although we didn’t have time to go into Blois castle. If anything the day felt rushed. We only got an hour for lunch and Blois Castle as well as only an hour for the wine tasting and walking around Chateau Chenoceau. I felt like I spend more time on the bus than at the sites

Wonderful Excursion with Addie
ecjeske
, Sep 2021
What to say about Addie - she was an OUTSTANDING tour guide, and I don't know that it was possible for us to have learned more from one person in a single day. Covering the history of the Loire Valley in one day is difficult at best, but Addie was able to give us the most pertinent information - and the most scandalous and entertaining details - in such a way that the time flew by (even the long drives to and from Paris). This tour was a great way to introduce yourself to the Loire Valley and see two of its crown jewels. We wish we could have Addie for all of our tours in the future!

Long day; should focus more time on visits rather than breaks and lunch; also no wine tasting
Robin_W
, Sep 2021
Castles were great, but needed more time. Should reallocate to spend half the time at rest stops and much less for lunch. Also, it was a Monday so there was no wine tasting and no adjustment in ticket price.

Exceptional tour and guide (Adie)
John_F
, Sep 2021
Excellent tour and the tour guide Adie was exceptional, great English and a wealth of knowledge. Very nice full size tour bus was used with ample leg room for my 6’4” frame! It is however a very long day, 12 hours for the 3 chateaus plus rest stops and lunch break. It is still very much worth the effort and money for this tour. Please be aware each of the 3 chateaus is 3-4 stories tall so LOTs of stairs to climb!
