Departure Time

8:30 AM
Disembark your cruise ship and begin an enriching tour of significant D-Day locations around the picturesque region of Normandy. Greet your guide at Le Havre harbor and climb aboard a spacious, private vehicle destined for Pointe de Hoc, the historic site upon which Army Rangers stormed a cliff top battery.

Continue onto to Omaha Beach to hear moving accounts of courageous US soldiers who landed on the beach to attempt to conquer Nazi forces. Hear shocking numbers of casualties and then head to the Normandy American Cemetery to quietly reflect beside more than 9,000 American graves. Stroll the vast graveyard and read poignant epitaphs on each headstone before enriching your knowledge further in the visitor center.

Travel to the beautifully preserved Longues-sur-Mer battery, a German stronghold that boasts unrivalled ocean vistas from its cliff top perch. See original weapons that stand upon the cliff and hear of the guns’ pivotal role in the D-Day attacks.

Reflect during the relaxing journey back to Le Havre and bid your guide farewell on arrival at the cruise ship port.

...This was a full day trip, and was to be the highlight excursion of the cruise. While researching this excurision, I had questions about where the vehicle driver would meet our tour group. A call to Viator resolved the issue, and we were met by the driver at the port instead of having to go into town. The driver was prompt and arrived at the agreed time. He introduced himself, and gave us an overview of the day's tour. He told us that the drive time to Omaha Beach would be around 1 1/2 hours, the time we would spend at the beach, the other places we would visit and where we would be stopping for lunch. The driver lived in a village near Omaha Beach, and was very knowledgeable of the area and the history of the sites we visited. We had lunch and had time to shop for souvenirs in the village of Sainte-Mere-Eglise before ending our tour at the American Cemetery. The weather was perfect, sunny, and warm for the outdoor tour. The price of the tour was about one-half of what the ship tour for the same itinerary cost. We were delivered back to the ship at the time agreed, in plenty of time to board before sailing.

Private Day Tour to Normandy

It was very nice to have a private tour with only the six in our group and in the comfort of a van. Our tour guide, Sunny, was extremely knowledgeable of Normandy and was very personable sharing stories that she had learned growing up in the area. I would highly recommend this tour!

The highlight of our trip!

A perfect day. Our guide, Celine, arrived on time, was extremely knowledgeable, professional and delightful. We thought we were pretty well informed about D-Day. While Celine was explaining her maps and photo album all along the way, we realized that there is a lot more to learn. Being at the D-Day site and the cemetery brought forth much emotion and pride in the sacrifices that these young adults made that changed the world This day was the highlight of our trip!

Phillip picked us up at the cruise terminal right on time. He was very knowledgeable and we all learned a lot. My only complaint is he left us on several occasions to to go have a smoke and I just wish he would've stayed with us as we wandered around to answer any of our questions. This tour was pricey for the 7 of us and it bothered us that he left us a few times. At lunch time he took us to his friend's cafe and didn't really give us a choice of where we wanted to eat. I also asked him to take us to a certain intact gun turret and he dismissed it out of hand. I then showed him a photo of what I wanted a photo in front of and he finally agreed to take us to the beach where they were.

Philip was a marvelous and knowledgable guide. He gave us background details for the American Day beaches we never learned in our history classes. He was courteous, on time, a great driver and in addition to seeing the sights, we had a really good lunch in a local restaurant. We can't say enough good comments about Philip. highly recommended.

Romain, our driver was incredibly knowledgeable and very accommodating. Great experience all the way around! Fantastic just wish we would have docked in Cherbourg. La Harve is a bit of a ways to the landing beaches.

Our tour with Viator was everything we hoped it would be. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and thorough. I was pretty aware of the D Day landings but she added information that I had not been aware of. I would recommend Viator to anyone who wanted a comprehensive day tour of Normandy.

The tour was terrific. Phillip was an excellent tour guide. We had been to Normandy area a couple years ago as part of a Viking Cruise tour, but learned a lot more history, and interesting facts, being with Phillip. He picked a very pleasant local place for lunch and everyone from the grandkids to the grandparents enjoyed it.
