The Royal Trade Road is a historic salt trade route that runs from the Mediterranean Coast into the French Alps. The villages chosen for this trip were incredibly beautiful and had very interesting histories. Our guide Samuel was outstanding. He was continuously pointing things out during the train journey, making sure everyone knew where to look and what features were unique. Our trip was complicated by train cancellations but Samuel got us where we needed to be and was extremely resourceful. I would highly recommend this day trip, certainly a highlight of my time in France. One suggestion would be make sure you have decent footwear as several people in our party suffered uncomfortable blisters from walking in sandals on the cobblestones (lots of up and down hills).

This was a great trip to the villages of Tende, La Brigue, and Saorge. All were incredibly beautiful and the visit to Notre Dame des Fountaines is a must as well. Samuel was very knowledgeable and provided a great overview of the history of the region.

We love trains, so we were surprised when this turned out to be less a train experience and more a bus/car journey. This tour is new and seems to be a work in progress. It is not what is described in the booking literature. However, there were some extenuating circumstances. Because this was the off season, some places were closed, and work was being done on the rail lines. What redeemed it was the great guide that we had - Samuel. He is knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and eager to please. He took us to a great place for lunch, and the visit to the Chapel of Notre Dame des Fontaines, which culminated the trip, was truly special. Having overdosed on most of the big cathedrals in Europe, we found this to be a little gem tucked away some distance from the nearest town. The landscapes and scenery from Nice to Breil/Roya to La Brigue are spectacular. So we would recommend this trip if you are the flexible type.

Bonjour, nous sommes réellement désolés de ce désagrément. Probablement un désistement du guide à la dernière minute suite à un impondérable. Il peut être difficile pour une petite société d'avoir l'organisation nécessaire pour gérer des contretemps de dernière minute. Dès cet automne, nous mettrons tout en oeuvre pour avoir un secrétariat plus réactif et des guides remplaçants toujours disponibles. Lorsqu une situation ainsi se présente, nous remboursons toujours nos clients à 100% tout de suite et je m'étonne que cela n'ai pas été fait. Je vous invite à nous communiquer votre n° de réservation et votre nom pour procéder tout de suite au remboursement. J'espère avoir l'occasion à l'avenir de vous prouver notre sérieux et notre professionnalisme. Nous mettons un point d'honneur à n employer que des guides diplômés pour des tours de qualité face à un marché qui fonctionne de plus en plus avec des guides non diplômés et sous payés, ce qui ne correspond pas à notre philosophie
