French Riviera Villages and Countryside from Nice

We had an amazing trip exploring the villages if the mountainous country side. Highly recommend! The guides not only shared history but recommend a wonderful place for lunch.

I really enjoyed this small group tour to a few of the very beautiful inland medieval Riviera villages. Our driver was efficient, friendly, informative and generous. The highlights for me were the visits to wonderful St-Paul-de-Vence and Mougins. I wished we had more time at both these villages - which could be achieved by deleting the visits to the Grasse perfume factory (boring, just an excuse to get you into their shop) and the Opio olive oil manufacturer (somewhat more interesting but still not worth the time spent there). My main complaint about this tour is that the operator would not accept a single booking. As I really wanted to do this tour (not the alternative one suggested to me) I had to book for two people though I was travelling by myself. So I paid double the per person price which is pretty mean (and discriminatory against single travellers). Even hotels allow a single person to book a double room with a single supplement which is nothing like a 100% mark-up.

This tour was lovely- we particularly liked the olive oil mill tour and the time spent in St Paul de Vence. The time in St Paul de Vence was slightly rushed- there was much to see and we were in and out pretty fast. I’d also add that while our driver was nice she was certainly more of a driver than a guide and did not give us much information.

It was great. Had a great guide by the name of Asan ullah from Nice Tour sightseeing. He was honest sincere and professional and took us around each and every place and explained everything

This is a perfect trip to do if you're not very familiar with Nice and the surrounding areas OR are like my husband and I who felt there wasn't much else to see in Nice after already having spent a day or two walking around. We wanted something that would take up most of the day and it did since it was 9-5pm after all was said and done. We booked this the night before so there was a lot of confusion on pick up and when but after chatting via Viator's messaging, it worked out OK. The pros of this tour are that you see A LOT. We stopped at I think 6-7 places and all were beautiful. Some places we only had 25 minutes but others we had closer to an hour, though I never felt too rushed or didn't feel I was missing anything based on the time we had. The medieval cities, waterfall, and olive oil farm were all gorgeous and it was great to see so much of the French Riviera in a short time, without having to worry about getting on various trains or a bus. This tour will definitely give you a day of opportunity to take some great photos. The reason I gave this tour four stars is because, as another review mentioned, you don't have a guide but rather a driver. The first stop for us was in Mougins and our guide just told us when to meet back at the van. We had no idea what this town was, the importance of it, etc. It was only through walking around and Googling that we learned it was where Pablo Picasso lived the last 12 years of his life and where his studio was. So, don't expect any history or information during the drives or in the cities themselves. You're just paying for someone to drive you around to various sites and explore on your own.

Rym was a super nice guide - got the spend the day with her and Ben from Italy (in training) who was interesting to get to know! It was just us and a young couple from Australia on the tour - so felt like a private tour. We were taken all over the place - it was a long day....for sure but we visited Moulin, Gourdon, La Tourettes (spelling)?, the waterfall and an olive factory tour and perfume factory tour. All were interesting and informative (the tours)....I'm not an olive person so that was my least favorite, but I did buy olive oil to bring back home for cooking and gifts. Same for the perfume factory - the smallest perfume is 28Euros. Would love to have had a little more time in the villages - they are simply magnificent - but time doesn't allow more than 30 o4 40 minutes max (if that) since you are traveling a bit to get to each one. Well worth the tour - Rym was sweet....we enjoyed her company & hospitality!

Elizabeth from Nice was our excellent driver with lots of interesting facts. We saw 4 medieval mountain villages. Only one disappointed thing, before our trip Viator staff told us that it will be a lavender field to take some photos, but unfortunately it was a mistake by global service not local one. Elisabeth explained that the error maybe happened of two similar towns' names, one close to lavenders and another is too far away from lavender country. Suggestion to Viator, please do not confuse your customers and check the information more careful with your local companies. Other than this, we enjoyed our a day trip in French Provence.

We enjoyed the selection of villages and attractions. The olive oil mill mill was surprisingly interesting, with delicious samples. The perfume factory taught us some things and was not a hard sell.

This tour provides a nice escape from the bustle of Nice and the French Riviera if you're looking for some peace and quiet and an introduction to medieval villages. We enjoyed seeing the valleys and mountains away from the coast, and we had some great views from Gordon. The olive oil mill was an interesting stop, and while the oil tasting without any accompanying food was a little strange, we found some delicious olives to take back home with us. So why only three stars? Our driver was just that-- a driver rather than a real guide. She dropped us off at each location and then went off to do her own thing. We were given very little information about each location, and some of the information we were given was suspect in its accuracy. We also found that the villages were a little too much alike. Without knowledge of their unique histories, we were kind of bored by the last two. You can only wander so many narrow cobblestone streets before they all start to look alike. A wonderful tour guide can make each town come alive, but that was certainly not the case here. Overall, we didn't feel like this tour was a particularly good use of our time or money. It was fine, but we were hoping for more than just fine for one of our precious last days in France.

Guide was friendly, knlowedgable, organized, and fun. She also recommended good restaurants in Nice. Old french villlages were beautiful. The villages were Touristy with lots of gift shops, but you cannot beat the views from top of Gourdon or the classic medieval architecture in Tourrettes, etc.
