My review of Chelsea market/high line tour

I will always remember how horrible our guide, Jessie, was. I’ve been on many tours and you wait until everyone is together before you talk to them. She would just tell the person who was closest about certain buildings, etc. while the rest of the group was lagging behind. Also the Tahini sample was pitiful. I have had tours at Chelsea market twice before, over the years, and this was by far the worse. We went to ten different tastings and the owners of the shop would talk to us and explain about their products, etc. we also got to to the third floor so “see” the food network. I know you are not permitted In. I could go on and on but I’ve said enough.

Hi Dorothy, We are very sorry that you did not enjoy the experience. We normally receive excellent reviews so not sure what happened here. I have shared your feedback with the tour guide. We will make sure the stops are engaging with the customers as they normally do. Some days the market is busier than others, so a lot of personalized attention can be tough. But we appreciate the feedback as 100% customer satisfaction is very important to us, especially since we are a small business.

I absolutely loved Jessie! She is extremely knowledgeable about the history of the market and the area. She has a great personality too! We started off with bites of donuts from the Doughnuttery, then pizza from Filaga, a taco from Takumi Taco and a bit of dessert from Seed and Mill. I think the food vendors need to step it up with smiling and being friendlier. Neuhaus was our last stop. The employee was very talkative and friendly. I’m in customer service, so I’m a stickler about having a positive attitude around customers. I give Neuhaus an A+. Jesse also took us to a fun artisan market and took us on the Highline. Just a suggestion, it would be really interesting to get a behind the scenes tour of something there.

Loved walking high line for first time. Jess was a great tour guide. Definitely recommend this tour for anyone who hasn’t been to Chelsea or high line.

Josh the tour guide was great. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable. I was expecting more food on a good tour as opposed to mostly free samples given out as part of the tour. I would highly suggest starting the tour a little later as the tour started off with sweets and ended with sweets. The Tacos were delicious as was the pizza. The walk portion was also highly enjoyable.

You start with a good tour in the market, learned a bit of history and then walk the food off on the high line and end at the foot of the new Vessel. Includes a few good tastes and a few samples. Of the 3 food/history/architecture tours I did on this visit, I’m going to have to rank this one last. The guide had different conversations with whoever was closest as we walked the Highline any information was lost to anyone who wasn’t right next to her. Still a decent amount of food and mission was provided.

The tour exceeded expectations! The tour guide Chris was informative, friendly and provided us with a resource of interesting information in addition to spoiling the group with food delicacies every step of the way. It was fascinating to walk the High Line even for a native New Yorker like myself! I would highly recommend this tour to natives of the area as well as out of towners!
