Our tour guide, Dominick, was excellent! He was very knowledgeable about not only NOLA but all US history. He also had several recommendations for books to learn more about the sites we visited. Even though we got caught in a storm, we had a great time!

The only thing ghastly on this tour was the guide! Pt 1

, Jul 2022
The only thing ghastly on this tour was the guide! A group of us decided nothing could be more fun than a haunted bar crawl on a Friday night, 07/1/22, in New Orleans. We join our tour guide Jayand are given a sticker and a handheld fan. We walk to a cemetery. Great Start... and it went down hill from there. One of the patrons leaned against the door frame of a building and was rudely told not to do it and that it would be explained later why. At that point 2 of the group left .The rules are explained and we are off. 1st stop is an older house and we learned about the gallery and the spikes on the post. We did see the 1st glimpse of an evil spirit... Jay ... she chastised the group about how we lined up along the sidewalk. After an uneventful walk, we end up a school. The group is told to walk, by ourselves to a another location to a bar. Granted the bar was block away but the idea of a guided tour is for the guide to take you... Anyway we go the bar, there was no drink special. No spooky interactions. just a dark dive bar, nothing special. We grabbed a quick drink and returned to the appointed area, 4 people shorter than we started with. I'm assuming the family of 4 left because the 8-9ish year old son was told to put his down hand and his questions would be answered

Thank you for your review. I would like to clarify a few of your comments. You claim that you were on our Ghost & Legends Tour and the first stop was a cemetery. That's actually untrue, as there is no cemetery in the French Quarter and the Ghost Tour stays in the French Quarter. Regarding your comments regarding members of your party leaning against the buildings... Despite what you may believe, your tour guide was simply doing her job by instructing tour participants not to lean on the buildings. The French Quarter is a residential area, and the homeowners have issues with tour participants leaning on their property. Furthermore, regarding your comments about your group blocking the sidewalk... The City of New Orleans has ordinances about blocking the sidewalks. And that applies to tour groups. Your guide was again, only following city rules and regulations. As to your negative comments regarding the bar break... The mid tour bar break is only done so that guests can use a restroom if necessary as well as grab refreshments. It is not a significant part of the actual tour and we have no control over whether the bar has a 'drink special.' And finally, regarding your last comment about the boy on the tour asking questions... The guides are always happy to answer any questions - AFTER the story is told, not in mid story. Questions are answered at the end of the tour and between stories as well.

This Haunted Tour was a Bust!

Our tour guide, Jay, was very condescending. She had a chastising tone when a little boy wanted to ask a question, when my friend leaned against a building, and when we were slightly blocking the sidewalk. She said she didn’t want to stop her story to tell us to move up again. She also gave false information regarding the Irish being brought here as slaves. When we challenged her information, she said to fact check her on google. I did just that while listening to her lecture of the 8 year old girl that died at the last building. The Irish were brought here as indentured servants and not slaves. Big difference. To double down on her falsities she said that the Irish were treated as bad as slaves. Not true. Either way, her stories were too long and embellished. We didn’t go into any buildings except the bar, in which she didn’t go in with us. She ended the tour at the last location and said we could follow her back to the beginning location of the tour if we wanted to. I expected to go into haunted places, learn the history and be a little scared. But no. It was alot of standing on the sidewalks and listening to her monotone voice telling stories that sounded like super exaggerated, clearly rehearsed and not much more information than what’s already online. Save your money.

Thank you for your review. I have already addressed these very issues with other members of your party who have also chosen to chastise the tour guide for asking your friend not to lean on the buildings. This is a residential area and the residents are very opposed to tour participants leaning on these ancient structures in the French Quarter. After several times requesting that your group not block the sidewalks, it does get old when you continue to do so. Regarding the historical accuracy of the tour, or her comments regarding the treatment of the Irish vs the slaves.... Much of this is open to opinion and obviously not everyone shares the same opinion. In answer to your other very negative comments regarding the tour, we always want everyone to walk away with a WOW! experience. I'm sorry that you clearly did not feel that way. However, the HUNDREDS of 5 Star Reviews that we receive on a weekly, monthly, and yearly basis tell quite a different story.

I love history, and especially spooky history! So this experience was so fun and interesting to me. Our tour guide had a great personality, and really brought the ghost stories to life with her elaborate story telling. We walked to places in the city that we probably would not have walked hadn’t it been for this experience, and I’m so glad we were able to see those areas in a safe and fun atmosphere. And the two for one hurricanes, let me tell you they will truly get you in the spirit :D

Probably the most mediocre ghost tour we have been on. I think we only hit 4 spots. We walked right by a lot of other tours that we stopped. Mostly we just walked a lot.
