Returns to original departure point
Start your day trip with a pickup from central Sorrento.

Once on the coach, travel inland, away from the coast to the ancient city of Pompeii. Famous as the city that lay buried beneath mounds of volcanic ash after the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius, Pompeii today is one of Italy’s largest—and best preserved—complex of ruins.

See its highlights on a guided tour with a guide, and wander through the historic streets to see old Roman baths, villas, and forums.

Leave Pompeii after your tour, and head onward to Mt. Vesuvius, traveling to an altitude of 3,280 feet (1,000 meters). How you spend your time at the crater is up to you; a local mountain guide is on hand, should you want a guided tour at your own expense.

Later, return to Sorrento with your group, and finish with a drop-off at the start point.

Worthwhile tour
, Aug 2020
Good full day to Pompeii and Vesuvius which I really enjoyed. The guides were Hugo and Julie (I think) and both were very friendly and helpful. The tour of Pompeii was very detailed and longer than I expected (or wanted to be quite honest, especially in the heat that day) but I’m sure this will delight others with a very real interest in the history more than myself perhaps! In short, if you want a one day visit to both sights, I’d definitely recommend. Thanks.
Two off the Bucket List !

Picked up on time at our hotel. Comfortable coach with friendly driver and guide. Informative tour of Pompeii with good commentary through our headsets. Guides recommendation for a set price lunch was excellent. Coach then took us up to within 800 metres of Vesuvius summit . Smooth but fairly steep path took us to the crater. Worth doing for the crater and the panoramic views.
Historic visit with modern conveniences

My husband and I greatly enjoyed the Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius tour — the tour guide was kind and full of jokes and interesting stories with great English, which was greatly appreciated! The tour guide seemed to truly care about his company, and we also enjoyed having a bit of free time to walk around Pompeii in our own. Travel by motor coach was convenient and cooling, and we were grateful for the tip to pick up a walking stick during our breathtaking hike of Mount Vesuvius.
Wonderful views

We Had a good trek up Mount Vesuvius. The guide we had was pretty good, but felt he had limited knowledge. It was pretty crowded and the restaurant we had lunch was not up to par. It catered to tourists so there was only 2 choices for lunch for the entire group.

Excellent tour guide Nella but no offers of hotel pick ups however we got to meeting point on time,Nella was very knowledgable about Pompeii and was a great insight to understanding the history Vesuvius walk is hard work for the unfit but manageable
Great day

Of you want to get a 'taster' of these two places, then this is the ideal trip. You don't get to see everything but you see the important bits and gain lots of knowledge. The company had great communication, contacting me so I could be picked up closer to my hotel. The driver was a careful and skilled driver, especially negotiating the winding road up to Vesuvius. The guide was a happy, fun and welcoming lady who had a wealth of knowledge. I felt well looked after and made sure we were all together. This is only my personal opinion but I felt that Pompeii is like a tourist circus and that some respect for the area and tragedy of the event is lost. The guide put it well that we are privalidged to walk the same tiled floors as they did back then.

We enjoyed this tour of Pompeii. Our tour guide (Rosetta) was extremely knowlegable and explained, in detail, the history of Pompeii and everything we were being shown. The Vesuvious climb was exhausting but the view was amazing.
Great tour, fantastic guides

Highly recommend. Amazing place with so much to see and learn about. Our guide, Gennaro, was fantastic - knowledgeable, funny, and looked out for the group. The company operates professionally - I got a text, whatsapp and email the day before with information. Pleasantly surprised how smooth everything went. Note - if you are thinking about doing this tour or one with only Pompei (omitting Vesuvius), I would suggest only doing Pompei. The volcano was great but it wasn't anything special for the extra drive + walk up in the heat, especially if you've seen a volcano before. You can see it from far away, and I believe its enough.
Great tour!

This tour was great! Very informative and the views from the top of Mt Vesuvius are stunning. It's about a 30 min climb up. Wear good shoes as it is rocky and can be a bit slippery with the gravel. Our tour guide Gerano (Sp?) was hilarious and engaging!
Pompeii and vesuvius
, Aug 2019
Tour of Pompeii was a little short, it took in 2 streets in pompeii and a few of the sites around. But this was enough as the heat was unbearable, vesuvius was brilliant. Bus brought us up to a 1000m and 35min walk to the top and the view was worth it
