Neuschwanstein Castle BUS Tour from Munich OPT Hohenschwangau / Alpine Bike Ride

The whole experience was great, and the tour guide made it entertaining. However the actual castle tour itself was shorter than anticipated.

After doing much reasearch on guided day tours from Munich, I chose Mike's Bike Tour to Neuschwanstein Castle on Monday September 9, 2019 because different options of activities involved and so glad I did. I highly recommend. This is a very well organized tour with the insider tips to help make the most of your day. Our tour guides were Ryan and Patrick and our driver Nayim. Ryan narrated a lot of history on the bus ride to castle and also took care of optional choices. I elected to do the bike ride, gorge hike, and tour of inside of castle. It was a scenic bike ride to a lake where you can swim and along the way there are several stops for photos of castle. If you decide to go swimming, just be prepared. You can change after bike ride and before lunch and there are several restroom breaks scheduled throughout the day. After bike ride we had lunch and the food was delicious. Don't worry about what to order because you've already taken care of it on the bus after your guide has given you description of meal options, he also arranged to have water at the table for us, which is not common practice, also if you can refill your water bottle at faucet. As an added bonus for me, since I was there in September, when we ordered our drinks the special Oktoberfest beer was available and it was so good and refreshing. Just what you need to get you through the gorge hike. Nayim, our driver has bus stocked with beverages and of course beer all at 2euro each. Before our hike and on our way back to Munich this was a welcome bonus. I have probably misspelled our driver's name and I apologize but I want to make sure he knows what a great job he does driving the tour. Now to the hike. This is a breathtakingly beautiful and magical hike. I am 58 and not in the best of shape and although I struggled a bit with all the steps, it was so worth it. Patrick was at the back of the tour and made sure everyone was safe and accounted for. This was especially important to me since I was traveling alone. I can't stress enough the care that was taken with us as a group and also individually. Sometimes I wondered off or got distracted taking photos and then realizing I was alone would look around and always there was Patrick keeping watch and giving me a nod or thumbs up. Our tour was only about half full so maybe on completely full tour it wouldn't be quite as individualized. Inside castle tour was crowded.

I've been traveling Europe for 3 weeks now and have taken a quite a few tours through Italy and London. This tour was by far the best one yet. Hunter made for an awesome day out, he's very knowledgable about the history of the region and the castle and also hilarious when talking about it. He really made the trip worth it. The bike tour is a nice cruise through the valley and around a lake. Very peaceful. Bring swim shorts, even though it was cold, the lake was still fairly warm. The hike isn't too difficult either, and its very beautiful. The castle is interesting as well, but the castle tour is run by the state, not Mike's company, and they only give you 30 minutes inside so heads up on that.

My first time joining a tour by myself and I had a really great time!!! Made a lot of good friends from around the world. The itinerary was very well organize and completely utilizing our time well. The tour guides are amazing! Highly recommended!!!!!!!

This was my favorite day from our stay in Munich. Our host Ryan was great, the swim and hike were picturesque, lunch was delicious, and the castle is beautiful. I would highly recommend this tour!

Great day out. Day was perfectly planned and executed. Both guides (Ryan and Allison) were super. Friendly, helpful and pleasant to be with all day. Don’t change a thing!

The tour was excellent. Our guides were Ryan and Danielle. They were both very knowledgable and made the day even better. We started the day by driving to the Bavarian countryside where we got out bikes and rode to the lake, it was amazing. The castle was in the distance and the countryside was so peaceful and beautiful. Once at the lake you were given the opportunity to have a swim or to relax and take photos. After that we rode back to the spot we got the bikes from, which happens to be where we ate lunch! Lunch was delicious and we made our lunch selection on the bus prior to arrival so we weren't wasting time. Lunch was a suffiencient time not rushed. After lunch we made our way to the castle, given the opportunity to hike to the top or catch the bus! Once at the castle we saw Mary's bridge and then waited for our reservation for the castle tour. Ryan educated us along the way about the history of King Ludwig and told us information that the tour of the castle doesn't include, such things like what it was used for during the war. Ryan and Danielle were both great tour guides and there love and passion for the job is very evident. Would definitely reccomend this tour and would be using this tour company again.

We paid for this Tour thinking it was what was described. Many things were very different for us. The price of the castle entry fee way higher than it told us, Their was no Wi-Fi on the bus as advertised, it tells you than you can do a bike ride and a swim in the lake on this tour. What is does not tell you is that the bike ride is about 4 miles according to guide, you only get a few minutes to swim and it tells you to bring a swimsuit, but their is no place to change only behind some trees. and if you swim you do not get to see the best photo opportunity. It promises helmets for bikes but we never saw or were offered any. The guide himself was great!!! It also tells you that lunch is not included but makes you believe their are places to get lunch. Then you get on the actual bus and they give you a menu to choose from (so my family thought they had to choose and it was included) it was not included... So this TOUR cost me ALOT more than planned and it was very frustrating. They have a satisfaction guarantee according to their website but when I called they said only if TOUR company was willing to provide, and would not take any responsibility for their wrong information. TOUR COMPANY TOUR GUIDE told me they have given correct information to VIATOR numerous times and they don't change anything or listen. VIATOR should be offering me aa partial refund as it cost me way more than planned and it is their lack of changing information that caused this problem. I will not book anything else from VIATOR...

It was a pleasant trip despite the rainy weather, plus the cycling tour was very enjoyable I advise you to go with the tour
