Overview

Visit the Eagle’s Nest in Berchtesgaden, Adolf Hitler’s famous mountaintop retreat, on this day trip from Munich. Travel by air-conditioned coach through Bavaria’s lush mountainscapes, and ride a bus and elevator to the lodge, 6,148 feet (1,834 meters) up Mt. Kehlstein. See where Hitler entertained dignitaries, view the hall where weddings and conferences were staged, and explore the terrace to admire the spectacular Alpine views—vistas that Hitler, ironically, found challenging due to his vertigo. Enjoy time for lunch (own expense) and the option to visit the Nazi Documentation Center Museum.
  • Day trip to the Berchtesgaden Eagle’s Nest, the former mountain retreat of Adolf Hitler, from Munich, with a professional guide
  • Absorb views of Alpine peaks and pastures on a drive southwest through Bavaria
  • Ride a bus and elevator up Mt. Kehlstein to the Eagle’s Nest mountain lodge
  • Explore Hitler’s one-time retreat, where he received visiting dignitaries
  • See the chambers and many original features, including a mantelpiece gifted by Mussolini
  • Ogle the incredible terrace views over the mountains and to Lake Königssee
  • Visit the Berchtesgaden salt mines if bad weather prevents access to the Eagle’s Nest

A wonderful time

It rained the day of our tour so the view was not as good as I would have liked. But the tour guide made the best of it and we all had a very pleasant time. It would have been nice if we the tour had reservations for the restaurant at the eagle's nest and we had been informed of this in advance.

This was a very good trip, except when you get to the eagles nest the guide told us the wrong time to meet for the bus to the eagles nest,so I had to take the next bus and pay again.viator should refund my 20 euro, for causing me to miss the red bus to the top of the eagles nest. This tour would be better if viator would let you pay for the eagles nest red bus when you get there instead of collecting the money on the bus on your way there, which viator charges you 20 euro and the real cost at the eagles nest is 15 euros

This wasn't a bad trip, but it did not include a stop in Berchtesgaden. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared a good deal of history. However, the trip itself could use a bit of work to be more inclusive for the price. Really just covers the bus trip to and from the city. I was not the only person on the trip who made this comment. Or I would even be willing to pay more to make the time spent more worthwhile.

UNABLE TO GO DUE TO OFF SEASON

, Oct 2019
I had booked this trip several months before going and only found out 20 minutes before going it was no longer on due to off season. If it wasn't for the company running the tours offering me the tour that was on that day to the castles, not only would we have had a day out but would not have recieved a refund due to your 24hr cancellation policy. I am shocked money was taken for a tour that didn't exist at this time of the year and was certainly disappointed. I think Viator should check their dates before booking people on tours and taking their money, and causing disappointment on their holiday!

Disappointing

Opportunity to be shuffled to sites for coffee and buying souvenirs. Not much substance. One cannot help when weather prevents a good view.

Rainy Day is not the day for this tour

I cannot fault the company for the weather - however, if it is a rainy day - cancel your trip and reschedule. This entire day trip for my group was a total bust due to the weather. You really need to ba able to see the views and be able to walk around town to get the most out of this tour.
