A Half Day In Munich With A Local: Private & Personalized

We had a good tour with Sandra. We met at the hotel, and took the subway to MarienPlatz to start the tour. We were able to see several very historic churches and attractions in the center city/old city areas. Lots of walking and we also had lunch at a Bier Garden which was fun. Few things to know. We toured with our 8 year old; although we were very interested (especially with the Medieval and World War II history), she wasn't quite as excited. Although there are some child friendly things to do in Munich, should be aware that it's tricky to keep a younger child occupied. Also, we did the tour in December. It was cold (high of about 32-36 F); so amke sure you dress warmly but be aware that you may need to duck into coffee shops and other places to stay warm. And finally, Munich maintains a lot of religious traditions. Although some of the tourist sites are open on Sunday (museums, churches, Olympic Park, restaurants), many of the retail shops are closed (except maybe at the train station or airport). So if you want to do some shopping in the popular areas, you may not have many options on a Sunday. If aware of the above you'll have a great time!
