Returns to original departure point
Choose the departure time that suits your schedule, then leave the city for a scenic, 33-mile (53-km) drive through the desert, passing historic Boulder City on your way to the Hoover Dam. Learn about the dam workers who lived in Boulder City in the early 1930s, and get views across Lake Mead, the second-largest manmade lake in the Western Hemisphere.

You’ll cross over the top of the dam, then pause for 15 to 20 minutes at the Arizona Lookout, which offers a great perspective on the entire dam area, including the Bypass Bridge.

The next stop is the Hoover Dam Visitors Center, where you’ll join the two-hour Power Plant Tour. Learn about the history of the dam on a tour that combines exhibits, film presentations, and guides, and get a good overview of how the massive dam functions.

Following your Power Plant Tour, you’ll have some free time to shop or visit the Hoover Dam restaurant, then begin the return trip to Las Vegas, where this tour concludes with drop-off at your original departure point.

All parts of the trip were memorable. Once the confusion for the meet up time was resolved, the trip went well. I would go again.

No power plant tour included as advertised.

Overall the tour was great. The guild was very knowledgeable and informative. Disappointed that we did not get to see the power plant as that’s the main reason we chose this tour over others. Seems a bit like false advertising.

Yes, the Power Plant is closed until further notice due to COVID19 and not anticipated to reopen until 2022. As a result, we conduct the exterior tour only with some add ons to further enhance the tour. The exterior status is mentioned on the Viator site but buried too deep to pick up on. I just went into the site and included the term EXTERIOR ONLY so that folks would pick up on the restriction right away. Glad you enjoyed the actual tour, quite a civil engineering landmark that is nearly 90 years old and attracts a million visitors a year. I hope that you had a safe trip home after a wonderful vacation in Las Vegas. If you would like to learn more about the Power Plant portion, please send me your email address and I will forward to you some wonderful images and content. Thanks again for traveling with us.

Needs punctual and interactive tour guides
, May 2021
Very knowledgeable tour guide and majestic views of the Dam. We’re told to be at pickup by 7am and was 15 min late. Then was told at Hoover Dam to be back for pick up at 1230 and again 15 min late. Wish the guides here were more interactive with the riders.
