First time in Equador

I would recommend the lunch included tour because the food is really good. The chocolate tour part was very fun and educational. Allyson was very helpful and knowledgeable, she even recommended some things to do in Guayaquil as we went back to the city and walked around. Definitely would do this tour again.

Great Tour for One Day in Guayaquil

The visit to the cacao farm was outstanding. Roddy was friendly and informative. His passion for artisanal chocolate production really came through. Alexandra’s lunch was delicious, and she too was friendly and informative. Our guide, Alyson was phenomenal. She ensured we had a good time and was very good about assessing what we wanted. Our tour dispelled any misgivings I had about Guayaquil.

Chocolate and more

Allyson was an excellent guide! The cocoa farm was magical & we loved walking the farm & making chocolate. We paid extra for lunch on the farm, which was fabulous. Our family of 4 would definitely recommend the experience.
Excellent day

Mario was the best guide. We had an excellent morning at the cocoa farm then a great visit in Guayaquil. This was a great day. Be sure, when he asks if you’d care to visit the cemetery at the end of your day, you say yes. Please look into this tour should your travels take you to Guayaquil. You will not regret the experience.
A must experience!

This is nothing short of a fantastic trip! However, what truly makes it an incredible experience is the thought and perspective the host, Mario, puts into it. Additionally, the interactions with the family at their farm is something you can't truly appreciate until you experience it; at a cultural, culinary, and personal level. This tour was something we added at the last minute, for our final day in Ecuador, after having already spent 11 days exploring the country. What we experienced that day, took our overall positive trip and took it to a next level.

I had the best day on my Cacao tour with Mario. He customized my tour to make sure he would take me to places of my interest as well as what was planned (we went to a plant nursery so I could see local species as well). He is a very hands on and professional guide involved in making sure you have a great experience. As a solo traveller I felt very safe regarding social distancing etc. I would recommend Mario and and any of his tours for people looking for an inclusive adventure while still wanting to see the sights and stay safe. The farm itself was a lovely experience. You get to have a part in every stop of the chocolate-making process. There are other fruit trees and crops to see. Many things to experience in one day!

a very nice day! Mario is a super kind guide that love his job and his country. he let me appreciate the city of guayaquil and discover a part of local life. the visit of the farm was fantastic: I discover and learn a lot of things about cacao and chocolate. the place is something special too. in the afternoon I discover Guayaquil : the colors of the city and the most beautiful places are so good ! (I started with a negative feeling about that city, but now I’m happy to have totally changed my opinions!). I absolutely recommande this tour!

Cocoa Farm Experience
, Nov 2019
This was a great full-day tour with lunch. Very educational. We toured a small Cocoa farm, learned about picking Cocoa, drying and roasting cocoa beans. We made our own chocolate by grinding beans. We also had lunch at the farm. We also toured some highlights of the city of Guayaquil—a beautiful seaport city. Highly recommend

Mario's an excellent guide and storyteller and led us on a great tour of the cacao farm/ city. He shared funny anecdotes while showing us around. Later we learned to process cocoa, from bean, to raw cacao we made an exquisite ancestral drink reminiscent of hot chocolate. Highlight of my trip to Ecuador!

As a single women traveling alone I wasn't sure what to expect. I meet Mario at my hotel and right off the bat I knew this was going to be a phenomenal experience he was warm and welcoming. He had me sit in the front row and we talked about his country and its history, it was wonderful. At the farm he was well versed in the history of the family and the farm, touring the farm he knew all about the various plants and talked about the growing season and how self sustain the farm was . The food presentation at the farm was exceptional and delicious, roasting and making the cocoa for the hot chocolate was a blast.I would recommend this to anyone and everyone looking for a local experience and having a guide like Mario only would add to the experience. Thank you again Mario for a wonderful time.

Mario is the best tour guide I have ever had. Very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. He speaks perfect English which was very helpful to me because my Spanish is admittedly not so great I am learning. Mario obviously loves Ecuador and his home city of Guayaquil, because he explains things in a way that conveys enthusiasm, pride and sincerity. This particular tour helped me understand exactly how chocolate is produced by touring a family farm and seeing how the entire process works. I even got some hands on experience by helping to prepare the chocolate for our dessert. It was unforgettable! Also, Mario gave me a great introduction to the city of Guayaquil as we toured many of the highlights in the downtown area. Finally, he provided me with some excellent suggestions for what to do on my own in Guayaquil the following day. In summary, Mario went above and beyond my expectations. I highly recommend booking a tour with him. You will be glad you did!
