Disappointed

We did the culural food tour with Diana. She was very sweet and we were picked up on time. After driving for about 10 minutes she informed us that we would be having lunch at her home instead of the original location. Not being familiar with the area we felt very vulnerable. We sat through an hour long talk of history some of which was interesting but a lot was just to fill the time. This was also described as a skip the line tour and there wasn't another person in sight. When we were leaving the cultural house her car would not start. She had to pop the hood and fix something. Again we were very uncomfortable. We said we would not be staying for lunch or anymore touring just to take us back to the ship. Although as I said Diana was very sweet I would not recommend this tour.

Linda K,
I do apologize for the fact that you felt uncomfortable after the car would not start and a change of location was given. I spoke with Diana to ensure that the tour was given to meet our usual standards. she confirmed that there was a slight car problem (the battery cable became unfastened) which was fix in a reasonable time. Our tour is off the beaten path and we try to give that assurance to all of our guests to generate comfort and security. At times, we do have to make some changes to ensure that the tour is an experience that you will enjoy. I can understand your apprehension with the change, however, if you look at our reviews you would see that we are trustworthy and have never placed our guests in harm's way, take advantage of or try to make them feel uncomfortable. This tour is not for anyone who may feel uncomfortable in the local area. We pride ourselves on having a community that while it may not be what you may have is safe and hospitable. Diana did comply with your wishes and donated the food since it was already prepared. I am happy that you did at least go to Buddies by the Bay even though you chose not to eat. Thank you for your initial choice. Regards, Donald

We became aware of how the Bahamians lived on Grand Bahama and how they dealt with disasters such as Hurricane Matthew in October 2016. The people were cheerful, neighborly and welcoming to us. Our guide Donald was very informative in describing local culture and explaining how Bahamians differed from other island cultures, the talk and video clips of the Bahamian Junkanoo was particularly good. Princess Diana's meal was first rate each of us enjoyed it very much and I had seconds. The tour concluded with a drive through the city of Freeport with ample explanations and descriptions of the neighborhoods and businesses. Tourists interested in the lifestyles of Bahamians will be interested in this experience.

This was an insightful tour of Bahamian culture: music, tradition, life. Donald, our guide, was informed and invested in sharing his knowledge with us. We enjoyed a meal at Buddy's, a local hang-out on the beach. The food was delicious, and the cook worked hard to please. Then, a short drive away, Grum Ma's provided hands-on and audio-visuals of the Bahamian people, the evolution of Bahamian music, and the tradition of Junkanoo, similar to the Mardi Gras Indian tradition with roots connected to Carribean and African origins. I recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in the real Grand Bahama Island.

Excellent, excellent, excellent...

Excellent, excellent, excellent. This was a real taste of the Bahamas - not what you see from a cruise ship or resort. I learned more about the islands and their people in this short excursion than I did all week and got treated to the best home cooked Bahamian meal prepared by Chef Princess Diana. If you're looking for fancy this is not it - but if you're looking to see what lays behind the tourist spots - it's a must go.
