A short immersion trip to Pisa, Siena and San Gimignano

Pleasant one day trip to find out Tuscany region. My boyfriend and I joined this small group tour along with 4 other people and this was guided by a driver, Alejandro who was also a guide. Each region does take a bit of time to get by but Alejandro engages in conversation before getting to each place so you save time quite efficiently. Pisa is quite obvious - the Pisa tower and recommend buying a ticket to go to the top. San Gimignano - short period of time spent but nevertheless enough to feel the ancient city. Siena- Good enough time to spend time in the city, e.g. grabbing a cup of coffee, going inside cathedral. All three cities have unique history so this is a good taster to get a picture of it.

I am so happy I chose Viator as my Guide. I live in Italy, however, I am a Travel Reviewer but not for this tour. I fell in Love with all three areas but San Gimignano captured me completely. Every area is different in its own way. I enjoyed everything. I would like to have had more time in San Gimignano and Siena, there is so much to see and explore. Alessandro was a great guide and entertaining. Highly recommended. Made new friends.

Fabulous experience. I was travelling alone and going on this trip helped me to see more of Tuscany. The whole experience was amazing. The driver and the tour guide were very helpful and informative. They were clear with their instructions. I went on the trip on Tuesday 6th October.

A balanced reflection of the day

Positives of the trip: *Very friendly and attentive tour guide (Dario). *Best gelato flavours ever in San Gimignano! *Great views of the Tuscan countryside. *A good way to see places in Tuscany if you don’t have your own transportation and/or you have limited time available. *Nice lunch and wine (especially if this is your first introduction to Tuscany, although this wasn’t my first time, so I wasn’t completely blown away by it personally). Negatives of the trip: *Being delayed by fellow passengers not turning up at one of the meeting points (although this is obviously not the fault of the tour company!). *When I got on the coach, I lowered the tray on the back of the seat in front of me to rest my drink, only to find a previous passenger’s rubbish (half a packet of crisps) left there. Even under normal circumstances, this would not be okay. However, given I did the tour in September 2020 where assurances were given on the website about all the steps being taken in relation to covid-19 health and safety measures, I actually find this entirely unsatisfactory, as the coach had clearly not been cleaned in between tours. I thought this was very concerning. Also I did not see anyone get their temperature checked, even though the website said this would happen. Overall, this day tour was a good introduction to seeing the typically touristy places in Tuscany (and I definitely want to visit San Gimignano again one day!) but I have personally been on better tours through Viator. It was good to see Siena, although I felt that the tour of that town was average. I felt the time in Pisa was sufficient to take photos, although probably not enough time to get tickets to climb the tower, if that is something you want to do.

Excellent day well planned to see the most out of each city long enough to really have a good look around and the right amount of time in Pisa which isn’t really much other than the square and leaning tower nice lunch too with a nice view and informative guide.

It was a lovely daytrip but exhausting. If you are not used to walking this is not for you. Our guide Giuilio made our trip fun, interesting and gave us an overview of the Tuscan country side. The downsider was long walking one does to the cities you visit where you are dropped off quite a distance from the entrance and herded off to the gates. This drains you before your visit. Another thing I did not like was having lunch at 12 and then being expected to walk to Gimigiano and explore when all you want to do after a big lunch is relax. I would've preferred to lunch after our visit to Gimigiano for then we would have the long bus drive to Pisa where we could relax.

This was a wonderful day: well worth it. Dario, our host was pleasant and helpful in providing us with food and wine recommendations. Totally recommend a bus to visit these three special places: convenient and comfortable.

Great Tour of the Tuscan Region

Overall, the tour was very good. I didn't grade it excellent because of a few things. First, the Bus Terminal is hard to find. You have to given yourself time before the meeting time because the meeting place was far from the train station-you have to ask for directions where to go. Another thing I didn't like was the light lunch at San Gimignano. I know it said light lunch but I thought there was bruschetta. No bruschetta was served. All we had were small pieces (2-3) of thinly sliced Tuscan meat, bread and a few salad plus pasta and wine. I was impressed though with the tour guide in Siena (Camila). She was very knowledgeable and very passionate about the history and culture of her place and her English was good-I could actually understand it pretty good. Our last stop was in Pisa-the attractions are beside each other so you can go on your own without needing a tourist guide. Our tourist guide (Elena) was very nice and had a very good sense of humor. I recommend this tour especially to those who has not been to the Tuscan region of Italy.
