Best Tour in Charleston

Mr. Harris is a first-rate, knowledgeable guide. He has a full grasp of what economic, religious, and global implications have led to Charleston to be the historic city it is today. We thoroughly enjoyed his "color commentary" about any and all subjects. He talks fast so get a good night's rest -- you don't want to a thing! My husband said a few days after the tour that he would personally hire Mr. Harris to take us around the city if we could. He is that good!!! We highly recommend this tour.
Fun and informative

Bill was our guide. My husband really appreciated the context he put around what we were seeing. He had a great sense of humor and had a lot of knowledge about the subject matter. Bill went beyond the service level to the deeper history of Charleston. Would definitely encourage folks to go on this.
Left the tour wanting more history
, Mar 2020
The tour was okay. We walked by all the named places on the list but the contents of the tour itself seemed somewhat spotty. The history didn't flow and at times felt like we were aimlessly wandering. The guide didn't even point out all the named places on the list. I left the tour without significant understanding of city's history.
A True Teacher

We did a small group tour with Bill a couple of days ago and he was brilliant! Sure, most tour guides know their stuff (one would hope) and their talks are usually full of entertaining and gossipy bits of information that are fun, but that’s not what Bill offered. He offered us a brief, focussed, opinionated history of economics, class clashes and the civil war over a brief hour and a half. Bill isn’t just a tour guide. He is a true historian with a talent for communicating what he knows. He didn’t just want us to walk off with some fun little tidbits, he wanted us to leave with at least some understanding of the place. That makes him A true teacher in the very best sense of the word.
Interesting Tour

Passionate about the information he shares, which made the tour more interesting. Knowledge tour guide..didn’t simply recite facts.
More in depth walking tour rather than superficial call outs
, Jan 2020
The tour was great. Very interesting and learned many interesting historical facts that I was not aware of. Also got to see everything that I was interested in as we walked through the city. Bill, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and entertaining to spend the two hours with. Also, he did not receive our confirmation from Viator, but was very gracious in letting our group of 4 join the tour even though it was not in his system. Overall, it was a great experience and highly recommended.
Definitely the highlight of our Charleston trip

This should be renamed the unfiltered Charleston tour that dives into the true history of Charleston, including the non-uplifting history to the fun history of Charleston. Our tour guide was so knowledgable and clearly knows the history of the city, industry, wars, etc. Highly recommend to anyone as this was the highlight of our trip and truly memorable experience.
A walking history lesson

Bill was a superb historian. His interpretation of Charleston’s history was very accurate. He did not shy away from topics that were taboo. Extremely knowledgeable and informative.
