Returns to original departure point
This tour begins in downtown Charleston, where you meet a knowledgeable driver-guide and settle into a carriage drawn by a pair of horses. Follow a route that takes in some of the historic downtown district’s most elegant mansions and gardens, learning about the architecture of each place as you drive along. Catch the scent of jasmine flowers from deep, shady porches, and pass by rows of bristling palmetto trees.

Get an overview of Charleston’s dramatic history, from long-ago pirate raids to plantations, Revolutionary battles, the Civil War, and Reconstruction. The city was founded in 1670, and Charleston's historic buildings have been meticulously preserved and restored. Guides combine humor with history for a lighthearted experience of Charleston’s atmospheric center.

This tour concludes at the original departure point.

Great tour! Great Guide! But no social distancing at all this was totally inappropriate for current circumstances

Hi Benjamin, I'm glad you enjoyed the tour and guide! If you come back, we offer plexiglass by request and options for private rows and private carriages. Distancing isn't always an option in this kind of activity, but we also require masks, clean the carriages in between tours, and have added extra waiting areas. Thanks, Marina

The guide was great and the time of about an hour was perfect. After the tour, we walked back to some of the places that really interested us for closer looks. The only negative was that we walked by about ten georgous horses out on the street hooked and ready to go. Our carriage was pulled by two donkeys, which was okay, but it was like walking by Porsches and then driving away in a Pinto. They were kind of funny though, nipping at each other everytime we stopped. :-)

Hi Chris! Thanks for coming and I'm glad you enjoyed it! We've always been partial to mules because they are smart, strong, sure-footed, and do well in hot weather. But we have horses too so if you'd like a horse next time you can certainly request one! Hope to see you again!
