Pink sea tour!

A unique, authentic Colombian experience!

, Dec 2020
Even though the Pink Sea wasn’t really pink at all on the day we went due to rain the previous day, plus access to the beach of the Pink Sea is closed at this time, overall, I still really enjoyed this 4-5 hour experience! It was a great and affordable way to get out of Cartagena for a while to see more of the country!
I was picked up at my hotel exactly when they said they would arrive and was dropped off back at my hotel when the day was done.
The Totumo Mud Volcano was definitely the highlight!! Usually busy with visitors, there were only six people there the entire time, which was GREAT!!! Second, due to covid, there were no men massaging you in the mud, so I was free to just enjoy the mud bath on my own terms! The staff there do a great job taking lots of pictures and videos for you while you are mud-bathing! There were also no women to clean you off in the water afterward, so more freedom to enjoy the experience! I felt it was super unique and an authentic Colombian experience and I loved every second of it! It felt very VIP since no one was there. The views were spectacular, too!
This tour also visited the town of Galerazamba, population 2,000, and the little museum there. This town is also where you overlook the Pink Sea. I was gifted with some of their salt from a local there who showed us the museum, which was a nice little memento! I loved, loved seeing the smaller and more country side of Colombia in Galerazamba! Fascinating to see such different lifestyles!
On the return, the super awesome tour guide, Karen, made a surprise stop at the beautiful Cartagena lettered display on the beach as you enter the city for a great photo op. She had also provided water during the heat, which was much appreciated!
Thank you, Karen and company! I had a great time and made great memories!

Pink sea is the highlight

Overall it was a good experience. I'm not going to detail the mud volcano there's a lot of mixed reviews about it. We were picked up at the given time in the morning. The drive was about an hour long. First stop is the mud volcano. They had changing rooms, showers and a very rustic toilet. We spent about 2 hours there, next stop was the pink sea. It is out of this world beautiful. The water is extremely salty it will burn your hands if you have cuts on it. Recommend to bring water with you to wash it off or you can opt out for one of the locals to provide this for you for tips. We spent about 10-15 minutes enough to take some pictures. On the way back we stopped for lunch which was very delicious and plentiful at a beachfront location. We spent about an hour there. By 3 PM we were back at our hotel. We had a good time it was well organized would recommend it.

Waiting for people late and lunch

We don't like to stop to lunhc, the food wasn't good, and very expensive. This tour can be done without lunch, this way will be done more fast....
We had a terribel experience about the LOS PINOS TURISMO, because we had to waiting almost 40 minutes for 2 people later, ......no consideration for other people in this tour.
Response from Host , Feb 2020
Hello good night, we apologize for the wait since sometimes tourists are not as punctual as others. and for lunch I had to read the content of the product in which it specifies everything included in the tour. We have the option also without lunch. but you bought with pity lunch :( similarly you are still working hard to achieve an excellent product. thanks

Cartagena Fun

The pink sea was a vibrant pink on the day we toured. The Totumo Volcano was interesting but they nickel and dime you there they charge you to take your picture with your phone, then they asked my friend for money for taking our shoes from us. Fortunately for them I’m we’ll traveled and I don’t have a problem with saying NO. Ultimately nice experience, the young lady who was our guide was ok.

A unique day out
Laura_P
, Feb 2020
This was a fun day out! I was picked up on time (though it was later than the voucher said- I only knew they would be coming later because I confirmed the day before by WhatsApp). We picked up some more people and away we went. About an hour later we arrived at the volcano. The company had their own secure location for us to leave our stuff that included changing rooms, toilets and showers.
I was one of the first ones of our group to go up the stairs so once I was down, I did have to wait a while until everyone was down. That’s one of the downfalls of a group tour (and seemingly one of the biggest complaints of other reviewers on this site. If you don’t want to wait, go private!) there was water and beer available for purchase while i waited.
Then we got on a different bus to go to the pink sea. We were given 15 minutes to take photos, which was enough. There’s literally nothing else to do there but take photos.
We then got dropped off At the lunch spot. I had the friend chicken. It was a filling meal. We were right on the water so the atmosphere was nice. The restaurant had seen better days but was sufficient for lunch.
We the drove back and winded our way through the old city to drop people off.
Overall, it was a worthwhile day. My only suggestion is to have more communication about the different parts of the trip- how long it will take to get from place to place, where we were going next, etc.
definitely worth the price I paid.

Solo trip 2020

, Feb 2020
I saw this trip a few times for different prices, after reading reviews I settled for this food because why pay more for the same exact excursion.
The transfer was supposed to come at 8, at 8:15 I was nervous that I may have missed it, but when I called they told me they would come at 8:30. So if you’re unsure just call.
Tips for the volcano:
-you need money to tip the man taking your pictures, the men who give massages in the mus, and the women you clean you after in the river.
- don’t put your shoes in anyone’s bag offering because they will expect a tip after, either wear your shoes up and the guy who takes the pictures will bring them down or leave them with your things
-Bring a towel! And a change is clothes
- the pink sea is just a quick 20 minute photo op stop, it was super pink when I went, be sure to look up if of will be pink when you visit because it is not always pink.
- bring water
- lunch was a standard fish rice tostones or you could get chicken and they also had a vegetarian option. It was dry lol but passable at that moment because you will be hungry.
-the lockers are really just shelves, bring a bag with a zipper
-when you go in the mud make sure you know who is taking your picture, they have lots of phone they are handling and the last thing you want to do is loss your phone or forget who has it
Overall great tour for the price!

It was better than expected!

It was better than expected! I would recommend to have this tour especially for first timers in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia. Awesome experience as long as your looking for adventure and something new. Just make sure Pink sea is on its season for its color. Do the research and you be all set! Lunch beside the beach was a bonus. Also, few tips on the mud bath -- you be paying extra for massage service which is optional and seaside bath to remove all mud from volcano. COP5,000.00 as per tour operator each additional services provided so bring extra cash and enjoy!
