River Kwai - A must see for the bucket list

We chose the private tour for 4 couples, and were completely satisfied with the experience. Picked up from our hotel drove and to the War memorial park, museum and then to the river for a boat ride to the bridge, followed by a train ride across the bridge along the river to a Thai lunch. We had comfort stops when required due to the distance travelled and our guide provided a very informative commentary all the way. We then were driven back to our hotel completing a 9+ hour trip. Would recommend this private tour for small groups.

It was a great day, the guide and driver were early. There is very little traffic early in the morning. We visited the Memorial, museum and then went on a boat ride up to see the bridge. Walking the bridge was nice along with riding the train. For me, it was a great day and experience.

We were picked up at our hotel by the guide as well as the driver this is a really great tour we got there fairly quickly traffic is really bad in Bangkok and getting out of Bangkok prove to be easy with a very good driver when we got to the bridge we were given all the history it was left up to us to just wander and do our thing how we wanted to while we were there it was really a great experience it was well worth the money I would never try to drive in Thailand so enjoy

A long day for a train ride. Would have preferred seeing something else and not ridden on train. Also, for all your tours a written outline would be helpful. A short fact sheet

Very educational tour; sobering to visit the graves and see photos of true conditions in the camps. Our guide was professional and knowledgeable.

Bangkok traffic is so horrific that you see approximately four hours worth of "stuff" and six hours worth of driving. The museum and train ride are very interesting. Our tour guide's command of English was not great, so he was not all that helpful in explaining things or offering history (fortunately we knew the history), but it was nice to have someone lead the way for us. He was kind enough to make sure my lunch was gluten-free, as requested. So, yes, worth doing, but be prepared and bring a book to read during the traffic jams.

Excellent trip with a knowledgeable and helpful guide. Also the driver was excellent. My only criticism was that the lunch was too westernised. The location was beautiful and the service great but the food, described as Thai food, was very basic and uninteresting (nothing like Thai).

Fantastic Day

I had an amazing and quite moving day learning the history around the Death railway and bridge on the river Kwai. The tour delivered as promised - I was picked up promptly from the hotel by my guide Pearl and we departed for the allied PoW cemetery some 2 hours drive away Throughout the journey Pearl kept me occupied with facts and conversation. After the cemetery visit we went to the JEATH museum, which is small but still worth the visit .We then had a boat ride to the famous bridge, where I had time to walk the bridge itself. A journey on the infamous Death railway followed where again Pearl kept me updated on facts and points of interest After the train journey we stopped for lunch at a nice local restaurant before the longish drive back. A packed and fantastic day - with a great guide!

This is well worth the car time to get there (about 2.5-3hours each way). You have nice, however not too long, river ride to the bridge, then the train ride. Guide was helpful in explaining the history.
