Ancient wonders a must do
Rebecca_S

This was an amazing tour, I highly recommend doing this if you’re in Athens. We were in Athens for a week but wanted to break it up to see some other Ancient sights further north. On day one we went to Delphi, our tour guide who’s name I think was Angelos (sorry if it’s wrong, I’m writing this a little late) he was amazing he talked to us lots on the way to Delphi about the history of the places it was so informative, he encouraged questions. In Delphi we had time with him and time to go on our own to the stadium at the top of the site, my only criticism is we needed a little more time to do this as it’s quite an uphill hike if you’re not the fittest. From Delphi we drove to Meteora again lots of information on the way, we stayed at the Grand Meteora hotel which was lovely and had views of the mountains we would see the next day. Had our evening meal and went to bed for our early start the next morning. We visited a monastery and a nunnery and in between stopped at different vantage points to take pictures of some of the others. It was a magical day seeing and experiencing these beautiful places. There were lots of toilet stops and on the way back we stopped at Thermopylae too. It’s was a long couple of days but perfectly organised and so glad we did this.

Very interesting tour

Delphi was strenuous but our guide made it very interesting with the breadth of her knowledge. Meteroa beautiful and unique. A lot of steps to climb to monasteries. Lunch on the way out outstanding. A lovely restsaurant great good and service. On the return poor. Cafeteria food had the appearance of having been there awhile, rushed service, overpriced. Bus held 40 but we only had about 17. We wore masks but not all customers compliant. Hotel was very clean and nice and lovely buffet dinner. All in all a great tour.

A Great Two Days

What a great two-day tour! Our tour guide, Mariana, was so knowledgeable about all of the ancient Greek history and mythology. Riding in the bus was an educational experience with her tutorials. The highlight was Delphi, which was so interesting and so important in the history. There is some climbing involved, so it can be hard for anyone with knee problems. The meal stops were mostly very good, and the hotel and dinner and breakfast provided with the tour were excellent. The second day in Meteora was beautiful and very interesting. The monastery tours became a little boring, and the steps to the larger one were gruesome. But, it was great to understand the history and the to marvel at the complexity of monastic life. The drive home - LONG! Still, a great way to spend two days.

Sophia our guide was very knowledgeable and explained things very well. Weather was very hot in Delphi but pleasant at the monasteries. Hotel was very comfortable, great location and very good dinner and breakfast.

Definitely worth seeing

I had a very good time on this tour in early September 2021. If you are interested in antiquity, Delphi is a must see. You have to have a little imagination but Marianna, our guide, did a wonderful job of recreating what it would have been like to be there during its heyday. Meteora is just stunning and even though it was cloudy for the morning, the views and the monasteries themselves really are breathtaking. You probably know that it's a LOT of driving-- 800km or so over two days. You start in Athens and drive a couple of hours to a rest stop and then drive another hour or so to Delphi where you will have 2 hours, 1 guided and 1 to yourself. If you are like me and just wanted to walk the complex and read the inscriptions, this is a perfect amount of time. If you want to go to the museum, it will feel rushed. Then you go to lunch and then back on the road to Kalambaka probably around 3PM. You get to the hotel around 7PM with a rest stop somewhere along the way. The hotel where we stayed was clean and I think our group was like 85% of people there, so it was quiet. Dinner was good although you can debate how "Greek" the food was. The next morning you are on the road at 8:30 and the drive to the monasteries is very quick. You spend 3-4 hours visiting two monasteries and walking around the rocks. Since you spent the night, you won't feel like it is overly crowded as you'll be the early bird. For those concerned about COVID protocols, it's kind of mixed. On the bus, there is signage asking people to wear masks but some people are selfish and wear them improperly or not at all. The group was younger overall and definitely was not that concerned (which is frustrating for an American who needs to test negative to go home). You are distanced but it's not perfect. At lunch and dinner we were sitting together but I guess you could ask to sit apart if you would prefer. We were encouraged to sit together.

A must-tour to book while in Greece
Victoria_F
, Jul 2021
I was in Athens and in Mykonos for 2 weeks this summer; and this trip has been the most interesting and the best value for money of all the tours/ activities I booked through Viator. The bus was clean. The tour guides shared their knowledge, not only about Delphi and Meteora, but also about places that you will pass on the way to Delphi and Meteora. I learned a lot about Greece from this tour - from Mythology to Economy to Culture. The hotel were we stayed was really lovely. I stayed in at least 5 hotels in my two weeks in Greece. Some of them were total rip of. Except for the hotel where we stayed in Meteora. It was the cleanest and properly managed by people with hospitality background.

Worth Every Penny!

Worth Every $$ Spent!!! Our family of 4 took this overnight tour and loved it. We were in a small group, charter bus. Our guide, Jollie was amazing. She gave us information about everything that was going to happen. She shared where we were along the journey. The views along the drive are amazing. Delphi was amazing. We are not museum people so it didn't bother us that there was not a lot of time to visit. We just enjoyed the views and the stories about what the ancient pilgrims would do to come to Delphi. Meteora was so beautiful. We got to go to 2 of the monasteries, but had time to stop and get pictures and admire the other ones along the way. It is a long drive to and from these sites, but it was well worth the time and money spent. One of our favorite activities of our vacation!!

Incredible Experience!

One of the best tours I have been on! Our tour guide, Yuli (apologies for spelling), was phenomenal - she gave a ton of super interesting information, new exactly when to let us rest, and was easily able to handle all of our questions. My only critique was that we were not informed of the dress code of the Meteora monasteries prior to the tour. Women must wear skirts, so be warned!
