Small Group Tour of Assisi and St. Francis Basilica visit

An absolutely perfect way to begin one's time in Assisi, and with a guide so well informed about the Roman history, the Italian culture and art masters, the religious inspiration of esch place, and most especially the life and times of St Francis and St Clare. Francesca possessed everything one could hope for in a guide, and was so joyful in her presentation and warm and generous in her personality.

Our tour was excellent. The guide, Alessandra, was brilliant. No trouble understanding our Scottish and Canadian dialects. We saw lots and learned lots about St Francis and St Claire. As well we have a good understanding of the art in the Basillica. Highly recommend the this tour. We started at the top of Assisi and worked our way down which helped with the walking. Our tour guide, Alessandra, was delightful. She was very accommodating as we kept on meeting members of our group along the way but that did not phase her. She is very knowledgeable and took extra time to share details of the artists as we had a little bit of previous knowledge. Magic. Two enthusiastic thumbs up from our group.

Alessandra led us on a three-hour adventure through Assisi. We started at the top of the city, worked our way through three major cathedrals and ended at the Basilica of St. Francis. The tour covers the Roman ruins, the origins of the Poor Claires and the Franciscan Order, all the way to present-day and the more recent rebuilding of the Basilica. She knew so much about the history and the art of the region that three hours passes rather quickly. To say that Alessandra is captivating is an understatement. Since I basically planned our stay in Assisi around this tour, I was a little surprised when Alessandra mentioned that groups are usually small. She explained that the train from Rome doesnt get in early enough for the tour and its only offered a couple times a week. MAKE TIME FOR THIS ONE! This tour is worth it. Without this tour, I feel like visiting Assisi would be like seeing a postcard and not experiencing the history of the city.

Our guide Michele was fantastic. He was thorough in is explanations and spent extra time on the things we were most interested in. It was just the two of us so basically a private tour.

Michele was amazing and so knowledgeable. The countryside was spectacular and if you are a St. Francis fan like me, go here then ask for the tour of the Porziuncola!! Must go to the small local deli for the porchetta as well!!!!

This was perfect for us in every way: incredibly knowledgeable guide who easily adjusted to our interests, answered our questions in full and provided enough time for us to experience on our own the most moving of the religious venues. We both learned and enjoyed just the right combination.

This tour was the best ever! Alessandra was so passionate about her town an heritage. It was a privilege to experience it with her. She was also very knowledgeable. Assisi will forever be in my heart. I will always come back here.
