Yosemite Valley, Yosemite National Park, California

The Basics

Head to the Yosemite Valley to enjoy ranger-led hikes, nature talks, and evening star programs. Book a guided tour to ensure that you see all the top sights; opt for guided hiking, backpacking, or camping adventure; or take a photography class.

There are also tours to Yosemite from San Francisco, San Jose, Los Angeles, and Lake Tahoe. These run anywhere from half-day trips to week-long tours, and many combine a trip to the Yosemite Valley with stops at other nearby attractions, such as the giant sequoias and Alcatraz. For a bird’s-eye view of the valley, check out a flightseeing tour.

Our tour guide Don was a class act. We have been raving about how amazing he did running the tour. He is passionate about the history of the area, full of information, and accommodating. We loved our trip and we are so grateful for the wonderful experience!

Great Experience For Beginner Campers

3-Day Yosemite Camping Adventure from San Francisco
Tour was overall a good experience. We saw some incredible views in Yosemite Valley. Daniel was a dope tour guide and very chill. Included meal count listed in your description was a bit inaccurate. Everyone on my tour was a first timer for camping. Daniel made the experience very memorable and worth the money. Definitely recommend this tour and hope that you get Daniel as your tour guide. ;)

2-Day Yosemite National Park Tour from San Francisco
Amazing 2 day experience. Be sure to bring plenty of water for the sequoia hike a no water sources are available there. Cedar Lodge is a lovely place to relax before day 2. Great food, very clean. Bike rental on day 2 is highly recommended since the valley terrain is flat and there is so much to see. Swimming in the Mercede River was a definite highlight.

1 day Yosemite and Giant Sequoia Tour from Groveland
Most important was the airB and B in Groveland, CA. It was so graciously prepared with many extras. The place was very clean. It was close to a beautiful Lake, with jet skies, KyateE, boat rentals etc. Loved the 8 hr Tour they picked us up in Groveland. It was awesome my whole family enjoyed it. Disappointed the Sunset hike was canceled. The Hollywood tour was also very enjoyable and fascinating . Thank you

Small Group Yosemite and Giant Sequioas Day Trip from San Francisco
Excellent tour guide Alberto. He absolved all our questions and a dices how to follow the roads (even with bears nearly). The Yosemite's waterfalls were dry but the park mantained something of his beauty.

One Day In Yosemite Private Tour:Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point & Giant Sequoias
This was a day to remember for a lifetime. Started with the sequoia hike and our guide Jamie was so knowledgeable as well as a wonderful person. Went after that to the high country and truly was gods country. Will remember this day always. I would recommend Echo adventures and Viator for any private hikes at Yosemite. Loved every moment.

Amazing Valley Day

Private Guided Hiking Tour in Yosemite
The day was an amazing view of the valley . Ended up hiking 9 miles but was truly pleasurable. Our guide Chris was very knowledgeable and extremely personable. The beginner hike is what you make it. Can be simple but can be modified to a little tougher if you say so. A wonderful experience.

Our tour guide Don was nothing short of a fantastic! He's incredibly friendly, bursting with energy (and fun facts), and an all-around great tour guide! Our trip was packed with adventure from start to finish. Most importantly, we never felt rushed.

When to Get There

Peak tourist season at Yosemite Valley runs from early June through the end of August, so visit in the spring or fall if you want to avoid the largest crowds. The valley is at its most dramatic in late spring, when the waterfalls are at their fullest. Whenever you choose to visit, make sure to start your days early; sunrise is one of the best times to capture photos of the iconic sights.

Best Yosemite Valley Day Hikes

If you only have time for one hike in Yosemite Valley, take the Mist Trail to Vernal and Nevada Falls. If you have more time, hike to Half Dome and climb to the summit with the help of handrails embedded into the rock. The 14- to 16-mile (22- to 26-kilometer) round-trip hike is strenuous in spots, but it's well worth it for the fantastic panoramic views of Yosemite Valley and the High Sierra.
