Campo San Luca Tours and Activities

Campo San Luca is a bustling square in the heart of Venice. Located midway between the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark’s Square, Campo San Luca’s central location makes it a popular meeting spot for locals and visitors alike, and a constant stream of visitors makes it a lively spot for people-watching.
The Basics
Small town squares (campos) are found throughout the neighborhoods of Venice and are the center of local life in Italy. Each square has its own unique personality and charm, but they are all perfect spots to relax and enjoy a coffee or aperitivo (happy-hour drink) between sightseeing stints. Campo San Luca is home to an array of outdoor cafés, restaurants, and shops. It’s also a popular meeting spot to begin walking tours of Venice.
Things to Know Before You Go
- Campo San Luca’s central location makes it the perfect meeting spot for travelers.
- Enjoy lunch or a coffee at one of Campo San Luca’s popular cafés.
- Explore the most popular landmarks of Venice by booking a guided tour setting out from Campo San Luca.
How to Get There
Campo San Luca is located in the San Marco district of Venice, just a five-minute walk from the Rialto Bridge and the Grand Canal, and a 10-minute walk from St. Mark’s Square. Campo San Luca can easily be reached by taking via water bus (vaporetto) Lines 1 or 2 to the Rialto stop and making the short walk to the square.
When to Get There
Venice is busiest during summer, especially when annual festivals are in full swing. Plan to visit early in the morning to avoid crowds, or visit between November and March when prices are lower and tourists are fewer. Seating at outdoor cafés fills early during the summer months, so grab a table in the early afternoon to make sure you have a spot for Italy’s celebrated happy hour (aperitivo).
