Concha y Toro Winery

Ruta G-45 (Avenida Virginia Subercaseaux), Pirque

The Basics

In addition to its award-winning cabernet sauvignon, Concha y Toro is well known for its other reds—syrah, merlot, malbec, pinot noir—as well as chardonnay and rosé wines. Guided tours of the winery allow wine lovers to stroll through the vineyards and Grape Variety Garden, visit the wine cellars, and enjoy an expert-led wine tasting. Wines are paired with cheeses and tapas at the on-site wine bar, and the well-stocked shop has wines at all price points.

Most visitors arrive from Santiago, and many day trips combine a visit to Concha y Toro with a drive through the Maipo Valley vineyards, a stop at the El Yeso Lagoon, or wine tasting at other regional wineries such as Undurraga, Santa Rita, or Cousiño Macul.

Good guide. Love that you could walk in the vineyard and tasting all the different grapes. Nice surrondings. Very beautiful. The wine and cheese tasting was also very nice. Easy and informative information of different type of wines, and what you can eat for the best combination.

City Tour and Wine Tour Concha y Toro or Santa Rita
Great tour. Highly recommend the Concha Y Toro portion of tour. The "Garden of Vines" where you could taste most of the varietal grapes that are used for their wine production. So unique and tour was very informative.

Half Day Maipo Valley Concha y Toro Vineyard
This is a really good half day experience. We've been to many wineries, but this one had something very unique...a field of 26 different types of grapes that have been planted so that you can see how different they are. As a bonus, it was harvest time when we were there so we could taste the many different varieties right from the vine.

Half Day Maipo Valley Concha y Toro Vineyard
My husband and I were the only ones in the six passenger van. Our driver Juan was extremely nice, spoke English quite well and was very knowledgeable and told us a lot about Santiago on our drive to the vineyard. The vineyard is beautiful and we got to pick grapes off the vine of several different varietals to taste. We sampled three different wines along the way. Then he drove us safely back to our hotel. I thought it was well worth the money.

Small-Group Half-Day Concha y Toro Vineyard Tour with Transportation
Despite a language barrier mishap, everything was rectified with the best re-accommodations and service. We were not picked up by the small van at the arranged time and location. Our building’s security thankfully used his own cell phone and communicated in Spanish with the tour group who sent a private car transfer, basically a personal driver and tour guide, who waited for us during our tour, and returned us safely. They went above and beyond to ensure our tour could still take place and be enjoyed. Thank you.

Premium Concha y Toro Winery Tour with Wine and Cheese Tastings from Santiago
Very good tour of the winery including the famous Casillero del Diablo. The wine tasting including the extend premium wines was excellent. If we had just done the standard wine tasting we would have been disappointed.

When to Get There

Winery tours are possible all year, but advance bookings are highly recommended. The annual harvest typically runs from the end of March to May, and it’s a popular time to visit, thanks to the cooler weather and autumn leaves adding a touch of color to the landscape.

Chile’s Maipo Valley

Less than an hour’s drive from Santiago, the Maipo Valley is one of Chile’s most renowned wine-growing regions. Sheltered by the Andes Mountains to the west and with a warm, dry climate, the area has an ideal terroir for wine growing. The Maipo Valley is famous for its French-style wines, most notably its fruity cabernet sauvignons, but there are also some fine syrah, carménère, and merlot wines, as well as a growing selection of chardonnay and sauvignon blanc. Along with Concha y Toro, other top wineries in the region include Santa Rita, Santa Carolina, and Undurraga.
