Absolutely incredible hike
I had such a lovely experience on this hike! One of my favorite things that I've done so far while traveling around South America. The hike is challenging, but so worth it. The company was responsive, very helpful with my dietary needs and my guide Miguel was wonderful. Couldn't recommend this more!

Lost City Trek 4 days 3 nights from Santa Marta
The expotour four day backpacking adventure to the Lost City caught my attention. I looked within to see if I had the endurance and faith to complete it. The Covid drama had forced me to find peace and reassurance outdoors riding my bicycle for the past six months. My body and mind accepted long distance bike riding (75 miles ) to develop cardiovascular strength and mental resilience. I also consumed lots of produce and water to remain well hydrated. I had taken the yellow fever vaccine several years ago and it’s valid for a couple of more years. Emotional stress has giving me a mild case of vertigo and Urgent Care gave me pills to control it. On the backpacking trek, I wore clothing that whisks away the sweat and dries quickly ( exofficio and kuhls )Moving from camp to camp does not allow regular cloths to dry. I used plenty of antibacterial wipes on my body and face to remove the sweat and dirt... I chose not to shower. I wore no cosmetics, deodorant, body lotion, hair gels or perfume to avoid mosquitoes. Shoes with good traction gripped the earth as I walked on hills. A waterproof backpack kept my stuff dry as I crossed the river. I successfully finished the four day challenge with minor swollen ankles due to forgetting to do calve raises to strengthen them. Diego, Isidros ( two guides ) and Jesus, the cook have an easy going personality that I appreciated. We bantered and found humor in each other’s company. I felt accepted in their presence and they helped me navigate the unfamiliar trails without fear....I would do the trail again and definitely train for it, otherwise, you will return to El Mamey ( the starting town )on a mule.

Great trip minus one administrative detail

4-Day Lost City Small-Group Tour in Santa Marta
The trip was absolutely fantastic. Hard hike for four days which we liked. Great logistics along the way making it easy even though rustic. Our tour guide, Luis, was from Baquainos Travel and Adventure, so Viator is just the middle man to hook you up. No problem, except that Viator doesn't allow refunds once purchased and if we had gone direct through Baquainos, we could have cancelled up to the day before. My girlfriend's knee was acting up and we weren't sure if we were going to be able to do the trip. The only thing we didn't like is Viator's cancellation policy. I'll go direct to Baquainos next time.

4-Day Lost City Small-Group Tour in Santa Marta
It was a great experience trekking through the jungle of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta for 4 days with Pedro, our guide, Andres, our translator, and Keisy, our cook from Baquianos! I wanted a small group tour from the beginning, and found Baquianos. As opposed to other groups with 20-30 people trekking together to the Lost City, our group size of 12 was incredibly comfortable. You could get to know the people in your group that much better and get more out of the whole experience than just the trek itself. I definitely recommend doing a small group tour if you value this like I did. You can simply focus much better on the experience I have found. I won't spoil you with stories about the trek itself or the Lost City - just be aware that this trek can be among the most impressive, challenging and rewarding experiences you will make. I had a great trek, and was extremely happy with our guide team, who were the best and always helping out when we needed it. Don't miss out on this trek if you've got the chance to do it!
