Magdalena Island (Isla Magdalena) Tours and Tickets
When Magellan passed through his eponymous strait bound for Chile for the first time, he cruised past the tiny Magdalena Island (Isla Magdalena). Today, travelers make it a point to stop at this scenic island just northeast of Punta Arenas to explore the rocky shores and observe the huge colony of Magellanic penguins at their critical breeding site.

Sail through the Strait of Magellan towards the Magdalena and Marta Islands. Magdalena Island receives more than 120,000 penguins each year and Marta Island is home to more than 1,500 sea lions. We start with this unique adventure, after checking in at our office, we head to Bahía Laredo by transfer to board speedboats; for 45 minutes to Magdalena Island, where we will disembark for 1 hour with our guide to know the natural habitat of the Magellanic Penguins, in the largest colony in South America. We continue our journey to Isla Marta to spot Sea Lions (weather conditions permitting), imperial cormorants and hundreds of southern gulls. Then return to the pier and to Punta Arenas. We will also have the opportunity if luck accompanies us to be able to see Austral Dolphins, Toninas Overas and Sei Whales.
