Paris Currency Museum
The Paris Mint
La Monnaie de Paris, housed in a majestic neoclassical building in the heart of the city, opens its doors in 2017 to unveil its 1,150-year history and its exclusive treasures to the public. Founded in 864, the Monnaie de Paris is the oldest institution in France and the oldest company in the world. Its public service mission is to mint euro coins in circulation in France, as well as coins for other foreign currencies.
The Paris Mint Museum
The museum, completely renovated in 2017, showcases the unique craftsmanship of the Monnaie de Paris and its exceptional heritage collections. Throughout this sensory and interactive metal experience, visitors get a behind-the-scenes look at coin minting and art making, especially through the windows of the art studios. The museum brings together several disciplines (art, science and technology, history of peoples, flavors and economics, archeology and sociology) to express the wealth of talents working in the manufacture and the wealth of heritage collections. A gourmet restaurant, a café and a shop complete this substantial cultural offer.
