High culture is a quintessential part of Paris’ personality, and nowhere is that better expressed than in the city’s wealth of world-class museums. From art-world heavyweights to modernist stylings, here are six of the City of Light’s top museums.
Visiting every one of the palace's 700 rooms would take days, so a Versailles guided highlights tour is the best option—options range from skip-the-line access tours to private and small-group tours that explore the history of Versailles. Combo tours which visit Versailles alongside the Eiffel Tower and Louvre (or the village of Giverny) are great for first-time visitors.
However you choose to visit, don’t miss the gold-framed windows in the Hall of Mirrors, the priceless antique furniture in the King’s Grand Chambers, and the regal Royal Chapel. Meanwhile, in the gardens, the Grand Canal dominates while Musical Fountains dance to classical music.
Guide was passionate and did a remarkable job sharing the history and bringing things to life. The palace is more extravagant than you could imagine. And the garden alone could be a 1-2 day tour.

Versailles: Food & Palace Bike Tour
The best tour if you want a complete day at Palace of Versailles, having fun with the bikes, a lot of pertinent information. The guides are a great couple, very organized, excellent attitude. We didn't have to pass through any lines, they know the exact times for avoiding heavily touristy "time zones", but still get to see everything in the palace. And the cherry on top... the picnic, with a great view of the Palace. Definitively recommended.
Over and above.

Versailles Palace Skip The Line & Audio Guided Tour Optional Gardens from Paris
Not having are COVID vaccination documents and the tour guide taking us to a nearby pharmacy for a rapid test. Pharmacist was on lunch break and after hearing our situation took time to rapid test us and enable us to go inside the palace. Disaster turned into wonderment!!!

Versailles Palace & Giverny's Monet House Guided Visit with Lunch from Paris
Van was modern, clean, comfortable. Guide Francois was knowledgeable, responsive, courteous, fun, we’ll-prepared so all went smoothly.. Giverny is charming beyond words. Lunch restaurant, in a garden area beside an old mill, was exceptional—food was delicious, served artistically, accompanied by wine, served meticulously. We were a small group (7) and soon knew each other! The Versailles tour was probably too brief for others, but I was still enchanted with Giverny, so it was long enough.

Day Bike Tour of Versailles from Paris
The best part of our trip was our tour guide, OJ. He was extremely friendly and knowledgeable and made the tour a lot of fun. The sites are amazing but having a tour guide like OJ made the trip even better.

Versailles Palace Skip-the-line Classic Guided Tour
Gabrielle our guide was great. Informative, cheerful, relaxed and friendly. She brought Versailles to life. At our meeting point ignore the blue sign for Get your guide outside the small shopping centre they have their office in, and go inside near the cafe Madeline. Note, this ticket doesn’t always include entry to gardens. We had to pay extra as there was a sound and fountains display on.

Private Versailles Tour | Royal Palace & Gardens Golf Cart Tour
Versailles was practically empty which was good for us as we got to see more! The church was finished being renovated so it was good to see it. This was a good tour, but wish the water fountains were running & that we could have seen the Hamlet (which, for me, is one of the highlights of Versailles). Our guide was very knowledgeable.
Personalized and fascinating experience

Versailles Monarchy from Paris
Our guide Verana really made the experience special. We covered a lot of territory: the palace, grounds and Trianon. Her knowledge of Versailles, and the people and politics that created it, was fascinating. This experience is highly recommended.
Outstanding Versailles tour.

Versailles Monarchy from Paris
It is hard to single out one thing, Versailles is an amazing place. It was made more so by our guide, Sylvie. She is exceptionally knowledgable and had stories that made the visit more memorable. Highly recommend her. In addition, my wife and I appreciated the arrangements Viator made for the ride back to our hotel. Another outstanding employee of Viator. Definately enjoyed talking PSG and football in general on the way back to the hotel.
Love this tour!

Versailles Best of Domain Skip-the-Line Access Day Tour with Lunch from Paris
Isabelle was the best! So knowledgeable and so patient with all our questions. An excellent tour guide. We had so much fun with her showing us Versailles and Queens Hamlet. It was a beautifully done job. Highly recommend this tour. Lunch was also very very delicious!
Things to Know Before You Go
The Palace of Versailles is incredibly popular—book a skip-the-line ticket to save time.
The majority of tours from Paris include hotel pickup and drop-off.
Select a tour that combines round-trip transport with an audio guide for a self-guided experience.
Parts of the Palace of Versailles are accessible for wheelchair users (the palace, the Grand Trianon, and the Petit Trianon), as are the English and French Gardens.
How to Get There
The Palace of Versailles is set in the small township of Versailles, 13 miles (21 kilometers) outside of Paris, and is easy to reach by train. Catch RER C from Paris to Versailles Rive Gauche station, only a 10-minute walk from the palace. You can also catch the SNCF train from Paris Montparnasse station to Versailles Chantiers or from Paris Saint Lazare to Versailles Rive Droite station.
When to Get There
At night, when the palace lights are illuminated and the sun has set, the gardens' Musical Fountains are at their most magical. Visit the Versailles Gardens on a Saturday evening between June and September to see a particularly special fountain performance crowned with a fireworks display. Otherwise, arrive early and avoid weekends for a quieter experience.
What to Do in Versailles
While the Palace of Versailles is undeniably the main draw in the tiny town of Versailles, there's lots more to see and do. The decadent Musée Lambinet is a must, while the Versailles market is one of the largest in France. The Versailles Cathedral also makes for some great photos. Meanwhile, on the Versailles estate itself, don't miss the Hameau de la Reine, a tranquil spot overlooked by many.
