Hike Palm Springs Half Day with the Best Views

Hike Palm Springs Half Day with the Best Views

star-5
I provide water, a snack, a backpack & a hiking pole for each hiker. The hike to the summit of Murray Hill is considered one of the best around because the views from the top are among the most spectacular in the desert. We'll be hiking in the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument on some the best trails in Palm Springs. You'll be able to see desert vegetation/plants & cacti close up as we hike along the trails. You'll see from the desert valley floor below all the way up to beautiful mountain peaks, all while getting in some great exercise. I'll point out interesting landmarks along the way, like Mount San Gorgonio (the tallest mountain in So Cal), Indian Canyons & other points of interest. Now that it's winter the endangered Peninsular Bighorn Sheep have returned so maybe we'll see some, I've seen them in this area before. There will be lots of opportunities for taking beautiful scenic photos during the hike.

High Desert Hike In Morongo Valley

High Desert Hike In Morongo Valley

star-5
This unique location is 30 minutes north of downtown Palm Springs & halfway to Joshua Tree National Park. The Big Morongo Canyon Preserve is an oasis located in the Sand to Snow National Monument in the Mojave desert town of Morongo Valley. The Morongo Valley fault runs through the preserve & you can actually touch it too, but don't worry the fault has not moved in over 20,000 years. Some of the oldest rock formations in North America at approximately 2.7 Billion years old can be seen here. The preserve is also an internationally recognized birding site. On the fringes of the Mojave and Colorado deserts, to high peaks covered by snow more than half the year. Sand to Snow National Monument extends west along the Little San Bernardino Mountains to the western border of Joshua Tree National Park, where elevations are as low as 1,000 feet to the eastern summits of the much higher San Bernardino range & the tallest peak in Southern California being the 11,503 foot San Gorgonio Mountain.

Half-Day Guided Hike in Joshua Tree National Park

Half-Day Guided Hike in Joshua Tree National Park

star-5
I am a 20 year resident of the Mojave Desert and log 200 miles annually on foot within Joshua Tree National Park. Over the years and miles I've cultivated an awareness of landscape, ecological systems, and local culture that when contextualized by the trail becomes a narrative experience I'm eager to share. I landed in Joshua Tree after dropping out of college in 2001. Back then you arrived by chance or a friend of a friend said you had to check out the rocks, feel the energy, and camp under the stars. I fell in with the gathering characters, an assortment of dirtbag climbers, avant artists, practical new age visionaries, and entrepreneurs...an amalgam of identities that would go on to create the image of the High Desert that is so coveted today. I am legally permitted to guide within Joshua Tree National Park and happy to host you. I know my stuff and I want you to know it too.
