Wall Street

Wall Street, 10005

The Basics

Wall Street features many examples of grand architecture, including the New York Stock Exchange and the 18th-century Federal Hall, commemorating the site where the first US Congress convened and Washington was sworn in as president. More contemporary works include Santiago Calatrava’s World Trade Center Oculus and One World Trade Center, the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere.

With New York’s Financial District also inextricably connected to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, many walking tours of the area include visits to the National September 11 Memorial. Tours (private and group) typically also take visitors to such landmarks as the Charging Bull sculpture and New York Stock Exchange and some also include access to the One World Observatory. Fans of the hit musical Hamilton can also take a specialized walking tour to places associated with the Founding Father.

Wall Street Tour with Statue of Liberty & Ellis Island Ticket
I can absolutely recommend this tour if you are interested in finance/trading/Wall Street/financial district. The guide told a lot, shared interesting information and details, and explained everything very well. He took the time to answer questions and was able to answer all the questions. I had a great time. After the Wall Street tour, the visit to Liberty and Ellis island is a nice, relaxing trip that you can do in your own time. It’s a great combination.

Very informative. Jared- our guide was a wealth of information and was very friendly. He was also very concerned about our safety- he successfully fended off an aggravated homeless person who became verbally aggressive- with words only. I highly recommend this tour.

Liz was a really awesome tour guide! She made getting around the city easy and enjoyable. My family and I drove in from Connecticut for the day and wanted to see a few different things and this tour hit all of them - NY Stock Exchange, Trinity Church, 9/11 Memorial, Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island. I highly recommend this tour for a day in New York!

Wall Street Sightseeing Tour
Bill, our tour guide, met us on-time in a downpour. Very nice, friendly, and full of history. He walked us around the financial district sharing details. We proceeded through the Oculus bldg. to the 9/11 Memorial. He personalized the Memorial respectfully. Really enjoyed the tour. Ended up staying in the area afterwards and eating lunch at Ulysses on Stone Street.

This was more than what was expected. Our guide Liz Day was simply amazing. What we expected to get for the wall street part of the tour was completely different from what we got. What we got was so much better, fun and knowledgeable than expected.

Our tour guide for the 911 Memorial and Wall Street tour, Liz, was awesome. She knew her NY history and shared it with zeal & humor. To say the least, the architecture has been amazing. This walking tour was worth every dollar as it allowed us and up close and personal view of the area. I recommend to all 1st and returning tourist.

When to Get There

On weekends, when banks are closed and streets are near empty, it can feel like you have the whole place to yourself, allowing you the space to take in the architecture. Note, however, that Wall Street restaurants primarily serving the people who work there are usually also closed on weekends. If you want to see Wall Street in action, visit on a weekday morning.
