Snake River

Jackson Hole, Wyoming

The Basics

Snake River activities are all about the water and one of the most popular ways to enjoy the rushing white water is rafting through Snake River Canyon. Join a guide to safely navigate Class III rapids from Jackson Hole in Wyoming, or head out on trip from Grand Teton National Park for amazing mountain views. Floating trips offer a calm alternative with chances to see animals like moose, deer, and river otters in their natural habitat, while jet boat tours cover the most miles in the least amount of time. Or, make a full day out of exploring Grand Teton National Park from Jackson Hole to combine a Snake River white-water rafting trip with hiking and sightseeing.

We were so glad we chose the float. From beginning to end . You can only get those views from the river. So peaceful. We have already recommended your company to friends.

13-Mile Scenic Raft Trip on Jackson Hole’s Snake River
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the scenic rafting. The Snake River was rough at times but our tour guide Madden navigated the river expertly. The young woman who shadowed Madden also moved us along the river with guidance from Madden. We would highly recommend this tour.

13-Mile Scenic Raft Trip on Jackson Hole’s Snake River
Great views along the way. Mountains, marsh and the giver. While wildlife was a minimum for this trip we did see beavers, eagles and osprey. Amazing how quiet it was as we floated along. Signing the reqd waivers was easy and getting to the River and back super easy. Our guide was exceptional with his knowledge and stories

Relaxing and great for site-seeing. Felt very safe the entire time and the guide was great at communicating what we should expect!

Snake River Origins

The Snake River was created by a volcanic hot spot that today sits under Yellowstone. Once known as the Lewis River, the name Snake River actually comes from a mix-up: Early pioneers misunderstood the Shoshone peoples’ hand signal for fish and thought they were signifying snakes.
