The ferry drops you in the town of Avalon, the main town on the island, home to shops, restaurants, hotels, activities and more. Select your departure point—Long Beach or San Pedro—when booking. This is a ticket purchase only, not a reservation for travel. To allow guests the flexibility of choosing their own travel time, guests must call in advance to reserve seats on a specific departure and return boat. You may return on the same day or stay overnight. We advise calling to make your reservations as soon as possible as boats often sell out.

Historic Cannery Row: Explore John Steinbeck's Monterey on an audio walking tour

Historic Cannery Row: Explore John Steinbeck's Monterey on an audio walking tour

star-5
4
This self-guided, self-paced audio walking tour will explore Cannery Row in Monterey California and the surrounding area as well as a number of hotels and historic sites. There's a separate admission charge for entrance to Monterey Bay Aquarium. On this tour, you'll hear how the area served as the industrial heart of Monterey in the first half of the 1900s. Its seemingly inexhaustible number of Pacific sardine attracted fishermen, investors and inventors from around the world seeking their fortune. But, (spoiler alert!) overfishing would decimate the industry by the 1950s. You will also discover the connection between John Steinbeck and this area as you meet some of the colorful characters that were immortalized in his novel Cannery Row and its sequel Sweet Thursday. Finally, you'll discover the incredible story of how Cannery Row quite literally rose from the ashes to what is now a welcoming waterfront of world-class hotels, wine rooms, restaurants and shopping opportunities.

Castro to the Mission Small-Group Tour in San Francisco

Castro to the Mission Small-Group Tour in San Francisco

star-5
3
San Francisco is known world-wide for it's place in LGBTQ history. Start your Castro to the Mission tour by learning how the movement caught fire during the 1960's and 70's in the historic Castro neighborhood. From there we'll take you through the side-streets (so you can view some of the best street murals you'll ever see) to the nearby Mission District, which was the birthplace of San Francisco itself. It was here, in 1776, that colonists built a Mission to establish control of the area for the Spanish King. During the tour you'll also be able to enjoy some great local food, including San Francisco's very own Mission Style Burrito, artisanal cheese and lovely home-made chocolate.

Mission District Street Art Walking Tour
"The tour guide was very knowledgeable and explained a lot of history of San Francisco, the meanings behind the murals and the Mission neighborhood. We felt the title of the tour a bit misleading as it states “Mission District Art & FOOD walking Tour”. We saw the Mission District, did plenty of walking and a few restaurants were pointed out along the way, but we were expecting some type of food sampling’s. Nothing huge, but maybe a taquito from one of the several Taquerias we passed, a quarter of a cookie sample from a bakery or a piece of chocolate. If you don’t want to coordinate with a couple of the restaurants then you should remove the FOOD from the tour title. Simply state “Mission District History & Art Walking Tour” that way it won’t be misleading. Our tour guide Elliot was fantastic! He earned the 5 star rating."..."
