Enjoy the beauty and excitement of Browns Canyon National Monument on a half day whitewater rafting tour down the Arkansas River. Your guide will go over safety procedures, paddling techniques and tell you about the area’s unique history, flora and fauna. This tour departs directly from the River Runners Browns Canyon outpost, a riverside property just south of Buena Vista, Colorado. Transportation is provided from the take-out at Hecla Junction back to River Runners. All gear is included in the price of the trip. Choose from 10 am and 2 pm departure times (check-in is 45 minutes prior).

ADVANCED -IV-lV+ – ARKANSAS RIVER This stretch of river contains some of Colorado’s most exciting whitewater! With some soaking splashes, a few medium-sized drops and nearly non-stop action, you will want to be in good physical condition and be a good swimmer. Experience an adrenaline-pumping whitewater rafting adventure down the fast-paced Numbers section of the Arkansas River in Buena Vista. Paddle through narrow canyons and safely navigate the river’s continuous rapids, twists, and turns with a professional guide. All the necessary equipment—helmet, wet suit and splash jacket—is included. Plus, choose from morning or afternoon trips to best suit your needs.

Single Person Rafting Gear : PFD (personal flotation device), Helmet, Splash Jacket, Neoprene Boots:

Mini Me Rafts are 9' long and accommodate 2 people and a dry bag or cooler quite easily. You can fit up to 4 people if you prefer, but be prepared to be in close quarters. These rafts are one of the most fun ways to go down a stretch of river and they are surprisingly stable for their size as long as you keep them straight they hardly flip and are difficult to rap on rocks.

Pick up a SUP take it to the river or a lake and learn or paddle on your own. A lesson is recommended, but if you have experience then paddle on! PFD, Helmet, and Paddle included. Don't forget to bring some shoes you can swim in!

Rent the beast for 1/2 Day!

Rent an IK (ducky) and forget about the confines of a hardshell kayak or standing tall on a SUP as you pilot one of the most forgiving and maneuverable crafts available for going down river. A shuttle is recommended, as they are not the easiest things to carry by yourself. Paddle, Helmet, PFD included.

Rent a double duckie for half a day. Take a friend with you for twice the power and twice the fun! The Salida area is the perfect zone for beginner and intermediate paddling teams, ask us about shuttles to and from different access points in the surrounding area.

Take your own non guided adventure on the Arkansas River. Float through the Salida play waves and walk the river path to do it again, or grab a shuttle, or shuttle your own vehicle and take a long float into our out of downtown historic Salida.

Personal Flotation Devices are a necessary thing to have any time you are going to be in the river. Various sizes available for all day rental.

Large rafts vary from 12' to 16' long and accommodate 2 people up to a max of 8 in a 16' raft. These are commercial quality rafts made of hypalon rubber and they all come with a perimeter line and a bow line. A rental includes gear for 2 people and additional gear (PFD, Paddle, Helmet) is available for $15 per person. It is recommended to have someone that is an accomplished river guide taking the helm as these rafts do not guide themselves and definitely have a potential to wrap and get stuck on rocks if not piloted correctly.

Are you experienced with a set of oars on the river? You better be because this is an expensive boat with everything necessary to get you and a couple friends on the river for a serious day of trout slaying or leisure floating. You break it you buy it rules apply and that goes for the trailer too!
