Rumbach Street Synagogue (Rumbach Zsinagóga) Tours and Tickets
98 Reviews
The Moorish Revival Rumbach Street Synagogue was built in 1872, when District VII was a bustling Jewish quarter. Known for its Islamic detailing, domed interior, and colorful brickwork, this recently-restored space offers a window into 19th-century Jewish history. It's a fitting stop on a tour of the area's hip ruin bars and restaurants.

Virtual Jewish tour in Budapest with Patricia
2
Live guided virtual tour! Enjoy Budapest from home!
Ask as many questions as you wish! This is how you can personalize your tour and visit.
My name is Patricia,
I am a licensed guide and a passionate local with a hint of sarcasm.
During the tour we visit the Great Synagogue followed by a short walk to discover the hidden and untold stories of the current VII. district. Throughout the tour I explain the history of Jewry in the Carpathian basin, beginning from the 2nd century, through the tragedy of the Holocaust, till present day. Then we pause to admire the beauty of the Orthodox synagogue. And many other hidden sights, and stories.
The experience is a virtual live guided tour. Because of the possible time differences ( Budapest, UTC +2 ), I would suggest we set the time via email after your booking. You can choose the best suitable time, and I can send you further details about the videocall as well. See you soon!

Private Walking Tour in The Jewish District Budapest
4
If you're wondering where you can learn about the Jewish diaspora's history, culture, and traditions in Central Europe, Budapest is the best place to look. Thousands of years of Jewish history, with all of its tragic, poetic and comic aspects, are centred in Budapest. We will take a walk through Erzsébetváros, the Jewish district, the most striking and unexpected part of the city, and discover how people live here today. We will talk about the origins of Zionism and the Holocaust, the branches of Judaism and what it is like to be an Orthodox Jew in the modern world. The tour will be led by an Israeli native and a representative of the Jewish diaspora, so this tour will also be fascinating to those already well-versed in the subject.
This place is also full of secrets and mysteries, which we will have to find and uncover. We'll peek into the courtyards and courtyard wells and search for Firebirds from Slavic folklore and menorahs covered in whimsical patterns. Come and join us!
