Flamingo & Mangrove Trip with Local Guide

Flamingo & Mangrove Trip with Local Guide

star-5
1
The mangrove forest of Lac Bay is one of the best preserved mangrove forests in the Caribbean. For generations this lush, green environment has served as a home and incubator to native fish, baby rays, lobster and seahorses. The bushy and beautiful trees and their deep, webbed roots, protect Bonaire from extreme weather conditions. In fact, it’s rumored that they’re strong enough to withstand the wind and water to the point of slowing a tsunami! The mangroves are a series of narrow channels that are covered by natural canopies made by the bending of the mangrove trees that house birds, fish and clean the water. For centuries fisherman and tourists have been visiting, kayaking and exploring this area of rich waters. Historically, they also provided means to make household items and played an important role in the fishing community, which you will learn about on this tour. While driving south to the Mangroves, your guide will inform you about the history and sites of Bonaire.

Rincon Visit with Local Guide

Rincon Visit with Local Guide

Rincon Village is the oldest village on Bonaire. Additionally, it is the oldest in continual existence within the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba. Originally settled by the Spanish in the early 1500’s, Rincon was strategically nestled within a valley to ward off impending danger from pirates and other threats. Slaves were brought to Bonaire and worked tending crops and in the salt pans. Slaves lived in Rincon and walked to the salt pans in the south to work, and stayed there for the work week. They returned to Rincon to gather supplies at Mangazina di Rei (King’s store house), and family visits before heading back to the salt pans. In Rincon we will be visiting the Magazine di Rei (King's store house) and then the Kadushi distillery (where you will be able to taste the local cactus liquor made on Bonaire. After visiting Kadushi we will be stopping at Local Restaurant called Posada. Here will be our last stop and you can enjoy a local food made by local people living on the Island.

Cave Tour with Local Guide

star-5
11
While vacationing or a short visit by cruise ship on Bonaire, visitors will want to take advantage of the opportunity to discover the island’s cave, consisting of an estimated 400 caves. Since their formation, the caves have played an important role in the island’s overall ecosystem. Some caves are open for guided tours.  Explore ancient formations of stalactites and stalagmites that took thousands of years to form. While adventuring through select caves, continue through the cavern and find a small opening of water where visitors can snorkel. Climb through the opening with your flashlight, mask and snorkel, and snorkel through crystal clear water that is a mix of fresh and salt. It is important that when visiting the cave it should be with a Certified cave guide & operator. You will be visiting 3 of the awesome caves here on the island together with a Native or Local tour guide. We will be picking you up at the port where the ship is or at your hotel or apartment. Transportation from and to your accommodation is cover The caves are located on the North side of the Island. One at the entrance of Santa Barbara and one just down the road at a place called Hill Top we will stop at the second cave. Around this areas is rich in caves. The first Cave we will be visiting have a ladder that you will have to climb down to get into the Cave. When you are in the cave there will be bats and a lot of special rocks. When you are in the cave you will see a lot of type of lime stones as you can see on the pictures and some of the rocks look like they have gliders on them because when you shine your light or flashlight on it they start shining. If you like cliff jumping, we will be visiting a small and low cliff jumping after the cave tour. It is very fun!!!! :) The cliff is not high at all and every one can jump from it :)

Bonaire Island Tour in English
"I read about how hot and humid it can get in the Caribbean and decided to go with a tour with air conditioning. Henk Transfer and Tours was the perfect choice because it was big enough to fit my family of 6 and they provided complimentary bottled water. I read there's free wifi but I did not use it. The tour itself was about 2 hours. We visited the pink beach, salt flats, slave huts, 1000 steps, and flamingo lake (but there were very small amounts of flamingos, we're told they're shy). Henk was very informative and gave us some time at each spot to observe and take photos. We didn't go down where the flamingos were because they were very far away. Bonaire is a beautiful island and if you don't do one of these tours you wouldn't see these other pretty sights. Henk dropped us off at a beach close to the port and picked us up at a scheduled time for an additional fee. Overall, it was a very good experience with this company and I would recommend it to anyone that is looking for good way to see various locations of Bonaire."..."
