From Basel, a 45 minutes drive will lead you to the "Hartsmannwillerkopf", homeplace of a 11 months fights during WWI. After some orientation & history, you will have plenty of time to walk at your own pace through the battlefield, former trenches and authentic army positions. Then you will enjoy a beautiful ride on the famous « route des crètes », a top panoramic road standing on all the submits of the Vosges mountains, offering you on a clear day a spectacular view from the Black Forest up to the Alps mountains. We'll make a stop in a traditional farm for a lunch on your own. The afternoon will be spent in Turkheim, to visit the museum dedicated to the fights of the liberation of Colmar. Afterward, before coming back to Basel with the most fantastic memories, we will make a large stop at the american memorial of Sigolsheim, homeplace of the raging battle for the pocket of Colmar during the winter 1944-1945, you will discover the former maginot line.
